We are very happy with the re-
sponse to the recipe box column.
Every day we have some new re-
cipes coming to us, and we shall
continue to pass them on to our
readers. Quite a few ladies are
clipping these recipes and pasting
thein in a scrapbook. Why don't
you try it.
Please keep on sending in your
receipes, we, as well as all our
readers, enjoy trying thein.
Doughnuts
(By Mrs. Ray Fischer)
3 eggs
1 cup white sugar, beat well
together
'Then add:
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup sour milk
% teaspoon salt
vanilla
1 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
a sprinkle of ginger
Add enough pastry flour until
mbdng spoon stands up .in centre
of dough. Roll .out about 1/4"
thick, cut them and fry in deep
fat.
Emergency Biscuit Mix
(By Mrs. Harold. Johnston)
6 cups sifted all purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
11/2 teaspoons salt
%/scup shortening or lard
Sift flour, baking powder and salt
into a large mixing bowl, Cut in
shortening with pastry blender (or
with two knives, sicissor fashion)
blending thoroughly until mixture
resembles fine meal. Cover tigh-
tly and keep in refrigerator until
needed; this mix can then be used
at any time.
For tea biscuits use 2 cups of
above mix and add % cup of milk
or water.
For dumplings (or dough -,boys)
add enough liquid to drop from
spoon.
For pancakes, use 2 cups mix, 2
eggs, 1 teaspoon sugar and enough
milk for right consistency. Beat
well.
/Date Dessert Squares

2 eggs
1 cup white sugar (add 1 tea-
spoon baking powder to
this
pinch of salt
vanilla (or almond flavor)
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup bread crumbs (use 4 or
5 day old bread for this)
Bake in a shallow pan (about 12"
x 10" size). When cold cut into
squares. May be served with a
dab of whipped cream.

lonal Farm Radio Forum broad-

men will make up the panel. They
are Mrs. Nadine Archibald, secre-
tary, Nova Scotia Federation of
Agriculture; Mrs, C. T. Armstrong,
president, Farm Women's Union
of Alberta, and Mrs. Elton Arm-
strong, president, Central Ontario
Area Women's Intitutes. The
panel will be chaired by Gordon
Hawkins of Toronto,
This program was pre-recorded
at Vineland, Ontario, where the
Ontario Leadership Forum was
holding its annual week-long
workshop. Members of this For-
um will also participate in the'
broadcast
