HAY Locker Service—Roe Feeds Phone 10 (Collect) Henson 1 nets through the ice on February 12, and after several lifts caught a fair catch of Carp, Shad, Mul- lets and a few trout and pike. He also got some of the worthless sawbelly, a fish the United States Department dumped into Lake Erie a few years ago, by mistake for ocean shad. They look much like a whitefish or whitebass, and have a rip saw set of teeth run- ning along their lower body. The flesh is also a mass of hones. The herring which used to be caught in the winter in large numbers, are nearly extinct, and after a week's fishing for them Stanley was lucky enough to get one herring. The future looks extremely poor for fishing. The Department has closed the fish hatchery at South- ampton and Pont Edward, which means Lake Huron will not get any restocking in the future. Day of Prayer The World Day of Prayer was observed at Goshen United Chur- ch on Friday with the Varna Un- ited Church ladies as guests. Mrs. Melvin Elliott was pianist for the service. The theme was "The Bread of Life." Mrs. Elmer Hayter, pres- ident of Goshen WMS was in charge of the introduction, "Call to Prayer." The praise, repentance and de- dication section of the meeting were taken by Varna Church with Mrs. Anson Coleman, WMS president and Mrs. J. T. Pitt in charge. Parr Line Farm Forum memb- ers attended the Safe -Driving Ral- ly held in Clinton Collegiate aud- itorium on Monday evening in- stead of having their regular meet- ing. The forum has not been able to have a meeting in February because of the snow storms which seem to have come every Monday. Quite a number of the farmers from this community attended the annual meeting of the Hog Prod- ucers Association held in the Leg- ion Hall at Clinton on Saturday afternoon. The Parr Line broom ball team played against the Blue Water team on Sunday afternoon in the Zurich arena. Despite the water on the ice, the boys played, end- ing in a score of 3-2 for the Blue Water team, in overtime. A fire Saturday afternoon lev- eled a two storey hen house owned by Mrs. Elzar Mousseau, Kippen. The building contained pullets and loss was estimated at about $2,- 000. Mrs. Walter Eckel was in Cal- edonia attending the funeral of her grand -nephew David Fearman, aged three, who was drowned in the Grand River on February 19. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family. Mrs. Margaret Erratt is spend- ing several weeks in Toronto.
