by dog sled from the nearest other
white folk? Can she carry on for •
a year, that is, until the ship will
call again; her entire fresh meat
suppy consisting of several tiny
hams, two small chickens and one
slim turkey? She herself nar-•

Probably the largest car dealer
in Huron County is located here
in Zurich. In December 1952,
Jack Pearson purchased the gar-
age buildings and showrooms of
Ward Fritz, who had conducted a
successful car business in Zurich
for many years. At that time
there were two employees in the
firm, and now the business has
expanded to 12 full time men. Be-
sides operating a garage and a
car business in Zurich, Pearson
Motor Sales have also a car lot in
Exeter, where two men are em-
ployed.
Pearsons are an authorized
General .Motors Pontiac, Buick,
and G.1VIC. Truck dealer. Just
recently they have added to their
line of new General Motors En-
glish -built Vauxhall cars. Experts
predict that 10 percent of all new
vehicles sold in the next year will
bethis new English model. In the
Pontiac line they offer 26 individ-
ual models in both six and eight -
cylinder motors. Buick, the big-
gest seller in the medium and
high price field today, boasts 19
different models to choose from.
At all times Pearson's have 25
new cars on display, along with
50 used models.
At the present .time they are
expanding their parts facilities to
carry eight or nine thousand dol-
Iars worth of General Motors fac-
tory approved parts, with a per-
petual inventory control. Pear -
sons .are capable of accommodating
all service and body work with the
greatest amount of efficiency pos-
sible.
Three salesmen look after all.
Pearson Motors car and truck
sales. In Exeter, Mike Quinlan is
in charge, while in Zurich, Peter
Masse and Jack Pearson handle
all sales. Last year they sold
over 150 new units and over 400
used cars. In the truck line they
can offer anything from half -ton
jobs to 40 ton vans.
The proprietor, Jack Pearson,
was born near Thorndale. After
spending some time with General
Motors Insurance Coroporation, he
served six years apprenticeship
with Central Chevrolet in Lon-
don. He is, a class "A" Certif-
ied Mechanic. Jack is a member
of the Zurich Lions Club and of
the Zurich and District Chamber
of Commerce. He has always
been active in any community pro-
ject which has taken place.
Jack attributes much of the suc-
cess of their business to his cap-
able accountant, Tom Rawlings,
who has been with him for the
past five years. Tom came to
Zurich from Tillsonburg, where he
served as an accountant with a
General Motors dealer.
