Two ig Games
Coming 14 Here
Two big hockey games are com-
ing up in the next three days at
the local ice palace. Tonight those
old rivals, Lucan Irish, will be
here to clash with the Flyers and
' then on Friday night, the Ilderton
Wildcats are back again.
This will be the first meeting
of the Lucan and Zurich teams,
this year, and since there has al-
ways been rivalry between them,
you can be sure of seeing a top
rate game.
Ilderton and Zurich tied their
last game 'here, so you can't pos-
sibly ask for any better a game
than this one will be. Our Fly-
ers have been playing a crowd
pleasing style of hockey lately,
so let's go all out and fill the
arena for these two, games. If you
haven't yet seen a game this year,
you don't know what you are mis-
sing, so come out Wednesday and
Friday nights.

Flyers Lose To
Pt, Edward, 6-2
After scoring two quick goals
early in the first period, Zurich
Flyers faded away and lost 6-2
to Pt. Edward Merchants in a
game played in the Paint on Wed-
nesday last. ,
At only 45 seconds:of the first
period Hesse banged in. a pass
from Ken Parker, and then at
5.10 Doug O'Brien slammed home
another with Don O'Brien assist-
ing. That was the end of the scor-
ing for Zurich, as Pt. Edward roar-
ed on to score six straight goals,
one in the first, three in the
second, and two in the third.
Fitzpatrick and Leaver each scor-
ed twice for the Merchants, with
Veron and Free tallying the lone
markers.
Zurich Ties 717 Bantams Swamped
hi Ilderton Game By Hensall Team
After holding a commanding
lead all through the game, Zurich
Flyers faded away in the dying
minutes of the game to come out
with only a 7-7 tie with Ilderton
in a game played Friday night in
Zurich. Leading 6-4 with only
two minutes of regulation time
to play, the Flyers ran into a
couple of cheap penalties and had
their lead wiped out.
Wein and Parker each scored
in the first period to give Zurich
a 2-1 lead at d'the close. In the
second period, Wein scored his
second goal of the night, on. a
smooth passing play with lineniat-
es Hesse and Parker. Hesse and
Gignac each scored once in this
frame to leave Zurich with a 5-3
dead going into the third.
Halfway through the third per-
iod Don O'Brien scored what lo-
oked to be the clincher, but then
at 18.00 minute mark the roof
fell in. Referee Gus Boussey gave
Remi Wein and DOA O'Brien a
minor penalty within a minute of
each other, and this seemed to
put new life into the Wildcats.
Two quick goals by Evans tied
the game 6-6 at the end of reg-
ulation time.
Zurich drew first blood in the
overtime with Bob McKinley slap-
ping in a long drive at the 1.10
mark, but at 3.45 Max
came through with his second
Ten penalties were handed out
in the game, three to Pt. Edward
and seven to Zurich, including a
bench penalty which was served
by Theander.
- The large ice surface seemed
to tire the Flyers quickly, as they
were unable to do much after the
first period. But for the steady
netminding of Jeffrey the score
may have been worse. Bad roads
kept several carloads of the play-
ers from arriving home until the
wee hours of the morning.
Zurich: Jeffrey, Yungblut, Ren-
nie, Don O'Brien, Doug O'Brien,
Suplat, Theander, Gascho, Bed-
ard, McKinley, Baker, Hesse, Par-
ker, Wein.
Pt. Edward: Purdy, Vernon,
Link, Kirkland, Fitzpatrick, Or-
uiett, P. Leaver, J. Leaver, Free,
Bain, Scott.
