Mennonite Men
Attend Finance
Meet at Kitchener
Thirteen men, representing maj-
or offices and committees of the
Zurich Mennonite church attended
a special province wide meeting
on "Church Financing" on Tues-
day, January 21, at Kitchener.
Guest speakers were the Rev. Ro-
bert Kreider, executive treasurer
of the Mennonite General confer-
ence; Ernest Bennett, treasurer
of the Mennonite Board of Mis-
sions and Charities, Elkhart, Ind.;
the Rev. Paul Mininger, president
of Goshen College, Goshen, Ind.
Careful consideration was giv-
en to adequate stewardship con-
viction and motivation methods of
church financing (past and pres-
ent), meeting the needs of the
total church program (nationally
and internationally).
It . wasemphasized that a real
sense of stewardship involves in-
telligent informed, proportionate
and planned giivng as a worship-
ful response to a loving God and
heavenly father.
Among the systems of financ-
ing currently in use in the Men-
nonite church are various types of
budgeting and the "Planned. Giv-
ing Project," which in every re-
spect closely resembles" the sector
plan.
Both of the lectures, and the
group discussion proved very help-
ful. The meeting was well atter-
ded by ordained and lay memvbers
from most of the Ontario church-
es.
Attending from Zurich were Al-
vin Gingerich, Roy Erb, Neil Gin-
gerich, Allan Steckle, Gerald Gin-
gerich, Clarence Gascho, Amos
Gingerich, Kenneth Gingerich,
Williams Steckle, Lewis Gingerich,
Lorne Gingerich, Curtis Ginger-
ich and Pastor Albert Martin.
