JOSEPH'S— IJoint Meeting Of RYSDALE Township F of A (By AL Fred Ducharme) Here January 30 The Zurich Citizens News has already made its first and second appearance to the pubil and to its readers, it is a reminder of the Zurich Herald which had 57 yaers to its credit, 43 of those many years were under the management of Mr. Chester F. Smith, Zurich, editor, publisher and owner. We ouldnot note this occasion without passing the highest tri- bute to Mr. and Mrs. Smith for the honest duty performed by them during those many years gone by, they being impartial in their laidy conduct, regardless of race creed or colour, and publish- ers they have left an example which if put in practice will be of benefit to others. There is no doubt that their retiring decis- ion was a heart breaking one, but since time waits on no one, made them victims of retiring age. Being vigourous in both body and mind, as time passes on they will have visionary moments of their past work, which will bring to them contentment of mind and of heart; may they in their de- clining years enjoy the fruit of their past labour. Leonard Lararas motored to Seaforth recently on a business trip. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hartman, Windsor, and Mrs. Therese Hart- man, Zurich, were Tuesday last viistors with Mr. and Mr.s Fred Ducharme of the Blue Water Highway. Junior boys fro mthis surroun- ding district are taking active part and are showing their skill on the ice in the Zurich arena. Hockey is their aim for the future and with a little training and en- couragement, they will be among the future athlete to bring honors to this community in the sporting field.. Work on this 21 Highway is making good progress, consider- ing the disagreeable winter weather and so far a large staff of men and trucks are employed. Mrs. Therese Hartman and sons, Zurich, were dinner guests on Saturday last to Mr. and Mrs. Avila Ducharme of the Water South. HILLSGREEN A banquet and the annual meet - of the Hay and Stanley Town- ship Federation of Agriculture is to be 'held in the Zurich Commun- ity Centre, on Thursday, January 30. Guest speaker will be James W. Jacklin, Fielanan of the OFA Entertainment will be provided and a dance is to follow. Lloyd Hendrick is president, Clifford Pepper secretary of the Hay Township Federation, while Mex McBeth is president and George Reid secretary of the (Mrs. Gordon Coleman, corres- pondent— Phone Zurich 99r20) Mr. and Mrs. William Consitt (nee Margorie Dawson.), newly- weds, have moved to their home in Hillsgreen stare, owned by Mrs. Aug. Guyer. A reception was held in their honor at Hensall town hall recently, where they were presented with a well filled purse of Money. Everyone in the com- mhnity extends them, their best wishes. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mustard and sons, Brucefield, were Sunday vis- itors recently with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Adkins and Gloria. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Guyer and family, former owners of Hills - green store, are moving to their farm near Milverton, at the end of the month. Parr Line Farm Foruan met re- cently at the hhome of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Love, Hensall. Win- ners of the progressive euchre were delighted to receive prizes of lamps. The basis of the lamps had been made by Mr. Love, who has taken up woodworking as a hobby this winter. James McAllister and Jean were visitors Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robin McAllister. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Adkins were Mr, and Mrs. Jack Dietz and Gary, and Mr, and Mrs. Ross Broatlfoot and Margaret Jean, al lof Kippen. Varna United Church Woman's Association are holding their re- gular meeting Wednesday after- noon, at the home of Mrs. Ernest McClinchey.
