The Scout's Corner
HAD FAREWELL PARTY
On Friday evening, September 27th,
1957 a farewell party was given in
the honour of Scoutmaster Gordon
Hess. The ,Scoutsers, Scouts, Cubs,
Ladies' Auxiliary, Group Committee
and Parents, all attended this party
The party got underway about nine
o'clock with bingo which Ed. Gascho
and Duke Yungblut as the callers.
We played quite a few games and
one full house which had a special
prize.
After the Bingo was over Louis
Willert ,,eave the farewell speech
which said: "On behalf of all the
groups here tonight I -wish to thank
you for having been our Scoutmaster
so faithfully for the past three or
four years. If it had'nt of been for
your faithfulness we would not have
the Boy .Scout Troop that we have
today. We also wish you success in
whereever you go and in the work
that you do. And now the Troop
has one more skit for ypu. "The 1:1-t
was about the things that happen
while in camp from morning until
evening.
After this skit was over Troop
Leader Louis Willert 'presented the
"'Chief's Last Cessage by Lord Baden
Powell of' Gilwell to Gordon.
After the presentation and read-
ing of the Chief's -Message a skit
was put on by the Wolf Patrol called
I"The Wolf Patrol 0.perating Room,"
It showed the things' that might .hap-
pen in the operating room, by means
of shadows.
After this skit was over Patrol
Leader Gordon
Weido presented a gift
to Gordon Hess that was from the
Scoutera, Cubs, Scouts, Ladles' Aux-
iliary, Group Committee and Parents.
Then Gordon thanked ever -ono for
the gift. He said this was really a
surprize party for him because he
still didn't know what it was all
about even when he saw everyone in
the hall until Ed. Gascho announced
that the party was in his honour. Ile
told ug that he didn't want to see
the Troop fall apart so that the grout)
committee should get a new Scout-
master for the troop. Be amo said
if it hadn't of been for Jim Reid
five years ago, there wouldn't be
any Peouts in Zurich today
Then the Wolf Patrol put on an-
other Scene,. The Scout programme
vas enjoyed very much by all.. To
