James Masse, Hay Township road
Superintendeet was last week taken
to South Hui=Sn Hospital, Exeter, fol -
lyra, lowing- an accident in which his hand
Ilion i was crushed. He was driving east

early morning sun. The truck over-
turned_ and his hand, which was rest-

be laid up for some time..

TWISTER WRECKS BARN
Twenty district men pitched in the
other day to help restore a neighb-
or's barn, the roof of which was torn
off by a small twister which passed
through Hay Township on Sunday.

south of No. 84 Highway on the

was noticed by the Hulberts', and as
a result almost the entire roof of the
60x40 foot barn was torn off by the
lashing wind. A brooder house, a Cull
40 -gallon gasoline tank, and a stove
were lifted from the ground and de-
posited about .50 feet away. It also
destroyed apple trees, parts of a
summer kitchen at the rear of the
house and knocked :over •a corn field.
Windows were blown out of the
house. The neighbours put sheeting
on the roof of the barn in an efTort
