Bedard, a few miles north of lAys-
dale, 13. W. Highway when lightAing
had struck Mr. Bedard's bairn 3'and
went up in flames in a very ort
time.

thirty loads of hay stored in:,,, the
barn, and samong other things;a
number of small pigs were consinned
by the flames. Neighburs who 'were
looking at the time saw the bolt, of
ilightning strike the barn. There
was little the fire engine could do in
this ease.

THIEVES AT HENSALL
'Thieves gained entrance to the
residence to the home of Mrs. Alice
'joynt, on Main St., Hensall, during
the early hours of Friday morning,
July 5th; cut her telephone wires,and
carried away a safe containing valu-
able papers and considerable money.
Entry to the house was made tftrough
the kitchen window and safe taken
out through the kitchen door. Ord-
inarily it would require two or three
men to lift it. Mrs. Joynt who lives
alone was sleeping in the upstairs in
the other side Of the house and the
safe was in -the diningroom down-
stairs,and did not discover the rob-
bery until she came downstairs • be-
tween seven and 8 tin the morning.
All the money in her change purse
in a large purselying on the table
was taken. The safe has been located
in Westminster Twp. with money
and papers all removed. The police
