open every rel" to be held this afternoon by the Zut-
evening until ich Girl. Guides, I was getting so ex-
cited about our :Scout Service, that
I went and asked Scouter Hess who
was going to have to conduct the ser-
vice and he said, I was to preach it.
Quickly I made up a speech for the
Scouts Own Service.
From that time on, all day Sun-
day, I was called Reverend Willert.
When I had everything ready to be-
gin the Service, Scouter Hess, Sco-
uter Surerus and myself looked for a
good place to have our Service. Fin-
ally at 1112 noon our Scout's Own
;Service began. We opened our ser-
vice with a Boy Scout Hymn.
"Grant us, 0 God, that in our youth,
We may learn duty, faith arc truth.
And by our promise and our Law,
'Serve the great end our Father saw.
In brotherhood throughout the world,
May the Scout banner be unfurled;
Let not our feet in sin be snared,
Help us for .life to :be prepared.
For Thee, 0 God, !our spirits search;
For Thee our colours in Thy church;
For Thee our hope, for Thee our pride
For Thee 'our strength and all beside_

Then all the Scouts sat' dol. n wile
I preached the sermon, which was
not too long, but was this: "Tile
Scout in his promise undertakes to
do his Queen and country only in the
second place; his first doty is to God.
It is with this idea before :s, and
reckoning that God is the one !Farther
of us all, that we Scounts count our-
selves a brotherhlood, desptte zae dill',
mixes among us of country, creed
or class. We realize that in addiiion
to the interests of our own ;particu-
lar country, there is a higher mi;;.a-
ion before us, namely, the promotion
of the IS.ingdiom orf God; that is, of
the rule of Peace and Goodwill on
earth. In the Scouts each form of
religion is respected and its actine
practice encouraged and through the
spread of our brotherhood in all
countries we have the 'Opportunity of
developing the spirit 'of .mutual good,
will and understanding."
