CHILD SURVIVES
A baby girl, stillborn to Mvs,Roai

and dell owing to the marvels of
modern medicine, There were no
signs of life as the little baby .was
brought to the light of day, net
when a heart injection of adrenalin
was administered, pulse and heart
began to beat. Mother and child are
well today. Dr. J. B. Whitely, of
Goderich, who performed the delicate
operation for the first time in his
long career, sand the adrenalin wo-

hundred times. •

Last Wednesday the completion of
the highest landmark in Goderich,the
151 -foot chimney at tre Goderich •'
Salt Co's plant, was narked by a a*
little ceremony. While the employees $
were given time offto watch, Mrs. 9a

chimney in the cement bucket and 2
unfurled a flag at the scaffolding

EXPENSIVE CATTLE
Toronto --An auction sale of mar-
ket cattle took the spotlight in . tre
livestock division at the Royal Win-
ter Fair last Thursday—Ontario Day
and the last day of the big fair. Pric-
es at the auction sale stiffened noti-
ceably over last year's quotations
and the grand champion steer, owned
by F. G. Todd & Son, of Lucknow,
Ont., was sold, to the T. Eaton Co.
of Toronto_ for 75 cents a pound. The
;Eaton Company purcrased the sham-
pion steer last year for 60 cents a
pound. Morris Robson, Denfield, Ont
sold his reserve grand champion at
32% tents. Last year the reserve
steer brought 37 cents, The 'reserve
this Year was sold to Great Atlantic
and Pacific Tea Co. The A. & P.
buyers paid 20 cents a pound for the
cliatnpionship Hereford and reserve
titillat.. Both were srown by the Uni--,
versity of Alberta, Edmonton. The
steer shown, by Ernest Robson & Son
Denfield, Ont., brought 12 cents.
Morris 1'iobson's reserve grand cham-
pion was entered in the leby''s baby.

evening December 20th at 8 o'clock.
Death of Mr. Henry Rader
Henry Rader, early resident of tris
community passed away on Wednes-
day; November 27th, after an illness
extending over several years. He
was In his 85th year and is survived
by his widow who was formerly Miss
Carolina ,Neeb. Before retiring to
Dashwood about 20 years ago the op-
erated a farm ,on the Lake road 2M
miles west of Dashwood now owned
by his son Ernest. The deceased
was born in Burgroltz Province, of
Hessen, Germany in 1851 and came
to Canada in 1868 a lad of 17 years
and settled in • Stephen Township,
Enron County. Inirmaties of old age
made him practically bedfast for the
lastfew weeks and he quietly and
peacefully fell, asleep in the Lord
last Wednesday afternoon at the ripe
old age of 84 years, 9 months and
25 days. Besides Ms widow he is
survived by two sons and a daughter
of a former marriage; Ernest, Louis
H. and Mrs. Edmund Walper all of
Dasrwood1 also four daughters of
his .later marriage; Mrs. Edward. Wil-
lett, Dashwood; Mrs. Allen Bills of
Detroit; kVtrs. Herb Wein, Dashwood;
end. Mrs. Martin Laub, Hay Twp; 26
grandchildren and a Iarge circle of
relatives and friends. The funeral,
whieh was largely attended was held
on Sunday afternoon from his late
residence to Zion Lutheran churcr
with Rev. T. tuft officiating. Six
grandsons, Alvin Walpole Norman
Walper, Lloyd Rader, Ervin Rader,
Harry Willett and Lloyd Willert act-
ed as ,pallbearers. Interment took
place in the Bronson Line Lutheran G,
Cemetery. ' Those who attended the
funeral from a distance were, Mr,
and Mrs, George Rader of Howard
City, 'l'dich; ;Miss Barbara Rader of
Gra.td Rapids, Mrs. to Roy Polman-
tcer of Flint, Mich; and Mrs. Allen
Bills of Detroit, Mich. ,
