itary -district No. -1. The three offic-
ers represented Huron Regiment. -Tho

Nearly 100 officers from Western
Ontario points in the district attend-
ed the 'tour, which was presided over
'by Gen; J: M. Ross, C.M.G., of Lon-

Bacon Litther Competition
T.he Dominion and Provincial Live
Stock Branches have recently anno-
unced a second Series Bacon Litten'
Competition for sows farrowing be-
tween Sept, 15tb, and Nov, 16lh.
There is no entry fee and anw bona;
fide farmer is tligible to compete;
each contestant, however, is required
to submit an approximate record of
the amounts, kinds and price of feeds
used during the feeding period. There
are no restrictions on the use of any
feeds or any feeding methods. For
full particulars apply to the Ontario
Agricultural Office at Clinton.

Word has been received from Oak-
land, California, of the death and
burial there of Frederick Albert
Keys, at his home, Mrs. 0. Lutz, of
Elmira, a daughter received word of
his passing on Sept. 9th. Death fol-
lowing alter a two month's illness.
with heart trouble. Deceased was a
resident •nf Elmira some time previ-
ous to moving to Oakland. About 19
years ago he opened the creamery in
that place and managed it until he
moved away about eight years ago.
He was an active member of the Un-
ited church. Heewas born to Stanley
township 62 years ago, fourth son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Keys. In
1897 he was married to Lavine John-
ston, who predeceased hien 22 years
ago. Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. O. A. Lutz of Elmira and Mrs
Harvey G. Henn of Toronto. The'fun

Dashwood Stitch and Chatter Club
Election
The ninth annual reorganization of
the Dashwood Stitch and Chatter
Club was held last Wednesday even-
ing at the home of Miss Anne Tie-
rnan,, the retiring president, Mrs. Al-
vin Kellerman, who was vice-presi-
dent last year. automatically becomes
president, while the newly elected
vice president is Mrs. Addison Tie -
man. Miss Ella Martinson was re-
elected as secretary treasurer. This
week's meeting is being held at the
home of Mrs. Alvin Kellerman.
Dashwood Christian Endeavour
Band Entertain
After the regular pracice on More
day evening the Dashwood Evangel -
',teal Christian Endeavour Band were
the guests of Mr. and Mrs.' Addison.
Tiernan at the Commercial Hotel. A
jolly time was enjoyed while the
crowd were served with delicious
hamburgers and coffee. Mrs. A. E.
Oestreicher moved a vote of thanks
to the host and hostess for their gen-
ial hospitality and Miss Gertrude
Hoffman moved a vote or appreciat-
ion to Rev. W. S. Henrich, our very
efficient and patient leader. Mrs.
Eeniriek was the guest of honor at
the occasion. The hostess was assist-
ed in . serving by Misses Kathleen
Merrier and: ,Ruth Tiernan.
