McGillivray Home Burned Several electric storms and heavy rains swept over Western Ontario on Sunday afternoon and evening with few sections escaping. There was damage to crops and buildings as li'gh'tning and wind took their toll. Motorists from Grand Bend saw the fire coming from the second floor and were able to carry out much of the furniture but there was no means of checking the fire. Along the Lake Huron shore, Grand Bend and Ipper- wash had torrental rains that swept on inland through the Exeter district the heavy rain 'doing much damage to the heavy crop's in' the fields by kno- cking them over. Damage was also experienced to the new mown hay. Trip to Quebec Mr. and Mrs. John B. Laporte of the Blue Water Highway, just north of St: Joseph, have returned from a most pleasant motor trip to the Prov- ince of Quebec. Mr. and Mrs. La- porte were accompanied by the form- er's brother-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Croisetiere, of Mar- quette, Mich_ The most interesting part of the journey was from Mon- treal to the old and historical city of Quebec, where ore sees many prim- ative methods in going about doing their work, especially in farming. They visited many of the principal cathedrels and shrines along the way which included the magnificent church at Ste Anne-de-Beaupre, about twen- ty miles beyond Quebec city which is a Masterpiece of architecture. They also visited .at places along the road as MVIontreal, Joliette, Trois-Rivers, Beauport, Quebec, and Ste Anne-de- l3eapro, being the most easterly pont they were. Mr. Laport says there is considerable difference to the methods and modes of living in that part of Canada to us neve in lit ,Qntario. - Master and Pioneer Chick Starters.
