The tenth annual reunion of the
Penhale, .Snowden, Westlake familia-
was held Saturday, June 29th, 1935
at the Waterworks Park, St. Thom
as. After singing the grace, a picni-
lunch was served to over fifty mem-
bers. ,When. all 'were seated Gordon
Penhale, President, gave a few word:
of welcome. After lunch the min-
utes of the last reunion woe read by
the Secretary, Elizabeth Snowden;
which was followed by the electior
of officers: President, E. A. Westlake
Bayfield; 2nd Vice., .N. Miller, St.
Thomas. The eldest gentleman pre
sent .was W. Poddon, the eldest lady
present was Mrs. W. Poddon. the
prize for coining the furthest to at-
tend the reunion was given to lI

noon races were, run off.

Ottawa—A new political party in
Canada had its birth over the week-
end. Hon. IT. H. Stevens, former
minister of trade and commerce in
the Bennett Government, has ac-
cepted its leadership. A name has
not yet been chosen but will shortly

setting forth its aims and ambitions
will be issued. The announcement
was made by Mr: Stevens 'to patlia-

It is reported that the head of the

versity, England, has invented a
process for the making of artificial
wool from cotton waste. The basis
of the process is cellulose acetet.
The product wears well as wool, it
is said, will take the dye of any
desired color and is considered a
better insulator than natural wool.
During the last fiscal year Cana-
dian exports of tobacco amounted to
471,991 pounds with 'a value of
$175,826. Of this value the United
Kingdon%, accounted for $135,784, the
United: States $5,216 and other
countries $34,826. There are 125
tobacco factories in Canada, Quebec
and Ontario being the principal pro-
ducers.
