ITEMS OF LOCAL INTEREST
The members of the Continuation
School, Zurich, held their annual
skating party on the local rink on
Monday evening. After the party
lunch was partaked off.
The Auditors' Report of Hay Town
ship has recently been printed which
brings the finances of the Township
up to the end of 1934, and we not-
ice that at that date there are still
$6791.48 of unpaid taxes, and we
trust that these arrears will be paid
up in the near future. Some years
ago the unpaid taxes was practically
at a minimum, but the depression
has apparently changed this, and a
certain number of people are per-
haps just a little negligent in making
provisions to pay their taxes.

which is likely t be cdii5itlered by

who recently announced a reduction
in interest rates on farm loans to 4
per cent.
73 BELOW ZERO
Looks as though there had been a
record made by the man who keeps
weather reports at Iroquois • Falls,
Ontario, a place which is about 50
miles north of North Bay. The in-
strument there registered 73 degrees
below zero, and it was on a reliable

tIi oMend who keeps check on war
Cr supply, •etc., for the paper com-
panies.
NOVEMBER 11th HOLIDAY
"The Dominion House made doubly
sure Friday last that Canadians
should observe Remembrance Day
as a public holiday by passing a bier
sponsored by the minister of justice
to include the definition of Remem-
brance Day in the General Interpre-
tation Act, along with all ' other pub-
lic holidays.
