Jim Johnston, who had the misfor-
tune to have a tree fall onhim and
injury his spine several weeks ae;o
and who was taken to Goderich Hos-
pital,.. was able to return to his hon'
at Blake the past week, and is much
;improved in health.
Mr. Charles Bartlett, teller of the
local Bank of Montreal attended ,the
funeral of his three year old, nephew
at St. Marys on Tuesday. The little
fellow it is thought met his death l2y
being kicked by a horse, which vtas
very unfortunate indeed.
A real game of hockey I§ being
looked for on the Iocal rink this ev-
ening, Thursday eve., when the Sea -
forth boys will be over to cross sticks

great amount of sickness in the city
the •attendance was short of last year

in the galleries. Speeches were de-
livered by His Worship Mayor Simp-
son and Geo. Spotton, M.P. Supper

Eileen Gratton, 14 -year-old daugh-

years ago, has won signal honors in

brilliance. Her removal to Quebec
necessitated her mastery of the.

SENTENCED 15 YEARS
David Meisner, the first man ever
convicted in Canada for kidnapping
was sentenced to 15 years in Ports-
mouth Penitentiary by Justice J. F.
'.IcFarland at the winter assizes of
Supreme Court at London last week.
Sentence was passed immediately af-
ter a petit jury had found Meisner
gatilty of three charges—kidnepping,
illegally imprisoning an•x robbing

could not write details of the con-

time under suspicion as a spy by the
Bolivion government". He said mat-
tera were , serious and were becom-
ing more so. He said lies had been
circulated' about him by enemies with
the result his sanitarium had been
burned to the ground because it was
suspected ,ef, : containing radio equip-
melit for use . in spying activities.
