FEES TO BE .ABOLISHED
Ontario ,school children lied two
reasons to be in jubilant mood. No
longer will they have to pay fees at
the annual midsummer exams., and
these exams will be finished by June
28th. Announcement of these two
'intended moves of the provincial
government came from the Premier
and the minister of education..
EARLY SPRING?
We have indeed been enjoying
sortie real nice winter weather the
past number of days, with the tem-
perature just a little below the fee-
ezing point, but where the sun,
which is becoming a little stronger,
hits, there is a little thaw. The we-
eks are now rapidly flying away and
another two weeks and February is
a thing of the past, and :when we get
into March we are practically in the
spring season. Weather prophets
are predicting an early spring.

COUNTY COUNCILS
. (St. Marys Journal -Argus)
There is talk of doing away with
county councils because they have
not very much to do. The reason.
their duties are not heavier is that
their work has beengradually taken
away from them and centralized at
Toronto. This remote control, by pro-
vincial officials is an expensive way
of doing business and has added en-
ormously to the cost of government.
