COLD CRACKS MAN'S EYE
From Wichita Falls, Texas comes
word that L. H. Holder did his usual
day's work and started home in the
face of near -zero winds. He heard a
crackling sound and felt a peculiar
sensation in his left eye socket. The
sudden temperature change had sl t-
tered his glass eye.

INVESTIGATE, FIRST __.
Investigate befonte Vola invest' is the
sound advice of J. M. Godfrey, K. C.
Smithies Commissioner pf Ontario.
"1 intend to confine the brokerage
business to honest people," stated Mr
Godfrey in a recent interview with
a representative of the local papers.
"High Presaure 'salesmen and ven-
dors of dishonest securities will do
well iib' give''Ontario a wide berth in
the future," continued Mr. Godfrey.
"Weehave laws With plenty of sharp
teeth in. them and 1 intend to enforce
them ' r Ontario . investors wall have
even- proteation•that'my department
can give them. To date we have ev-
ery protection that my department
can give them.. Td date we nave put
into force several measures that have
made themselves felt, and we intend
to preserve until every broker with
shady business deals, decides to either
turnhonest or get out of business.
Letters have been forwarded to ev-
ery Crown Attorney in Ontario, by
the Attorney General advising them
to to -operate with the Commissioner
and instruct them to receive and take
necessary action in complaints. In
addition an advertisemeing campaign
is being conducted through 200 On-
tario dailies and weeklies to acquaint
the general public with the new or-
der.
The week -end ushered in a contin-
uance
ontinuance of zero and sub -zero weather
in this part of Canada. With the
mercury from zero to twenty below
it is eather a case of stoking up the
stove or furnace, or freezing. We
envy those people who have the
means and time of going south in the
warm and balmy weather these cold
months. Perhaps some of us will
make to attempt some time.
