the roads could not be better.
The play put on by the young peo-
ple of Exeter "Civil Service" in the
town Hall last Thursday, under the
auspices of the Evangelical Sunday
school, was fairly well attended and
this group of young people gave. a
very good account of themselves.
This was the fifteenth time this play
was rendered by this company and
they are all very good characters
well chosen and took their parts
every creditably.
New Traffis Officer
W. F. Robinson, of the Provincial
Police, one of the most popular young
men of the motor cycle patrol, has
been transferred from Melbourne to
Exeter where he will be stationed in
future. He will patrol Highway No.4

Error Of Judgment
Goderich Nov 30 -Given a two
year suspended sentence yesterday
afternoon on. a charge of theft, Floyd
McCullough, London, was back in
jail in less than six hours on a nom-
inal charge of vagrancy. After prom-
ising the court that he would go
home and go straight, the youth st-
arted out to beg from door to door,
refusing food and demanding money.
His fatal mistake was to endeavor
to make a "touch" in the presence of
n policeman in plain clothes. An ex-
. tting chase of some dozen blocks fol-
lowed as McCullough broke and ran.
He was rounded up in hiding on a
church lawn. The police said he did
not play fair. 1 bought him a hearty
metal after the mag. lei; him go on
suspended sentence. He ate it and
thenstarted in to panhan.l'e people

they refused. He will appear on Thu-
rsday.

place some time in January, either

ferrably. Bail was refused.
Bumble Bees In November
Harold Blackstone, Goderich, had
an encounter with a huge humble bee
Tuesday last. The big fat fellow flew
at him while he was getting ice from
the icehouse. He knocked it away
and it came at him. again. The opin-
ion is expressed in expert circles that
the bee was annoyed at being fooled
into thinking this spring and wanted
to take it out on someone. -Star.
Dragging Goderich Harbor
Goderich-Men are' still dragging
the floor of the harbor in connection
with the disapearance of "Gal"Smith
from his home on Nov. 23 brought
no results so far. When Smith left
home and dropped completely out of
sight he wore only his working cloth-
es. A neatly pressed suit and new
shoes were left ,at home. It is also
ascertained that he had been troub-
led with insomnia and had received
sleeping tablets from a doctor and
that he visited the police station in
the Middle of the night to tell of his
martial difficulties. Since his depart-
ure the furniture has been removed
from the house and his wife has tak-
en a position while friends are look-
ing after an adopted child of tender
years.
