Huron Surrounded by Beer
And Water
(London Free Press)
Goderich---Reports that beer was
being sold by the glass in licensed
places at Zurich and Crediton, both
located in •the reputed dry area of
Huron county may be placed in the
rumor category. From the only ho-
tel at Zurich, a German settlement,
came news over long distance, that
the' authority to sell had not been
received from the Board, although
it is expected any day now. The
same story came from Crediton, the
ac cond point reported to have re-
ceived a license in a report that
spread likewildfire in the town, but
the thirsty ones were &famed to dis-
appointment. Press reports that the
Liquor Control Board had issued
instructions to "hold everything" with
respect to applications for authorit-
ies from Huron and Peel counties,
C.T.A territories has dampened the
enthusiasm of hotel keepers in this
county who have forwarded appli-
cations for licenses with checks en-
closed. As matter now stands, God-
erich is surrounded on three sides by
beer and on the fourth by the great
expanse of Lake Huron. Beer is be-
ing sold on licensed premises at
Grand Bend, just over the boundary
in. Lansbton county, to the south of
here, 30 miles at Mitchell in Perth
county, 33 miles to the east, and at
Mildmay, in Bruce county, 37 miles
to the north.
