40 Lodges Parade at Exeter
Attracting the largest crowd Ex-
eter has seen in years and the great-
est 12th of July parade Huron Co-
unty has known, the observance of
the 12th, when loyal Orangemen,
^^^'•m and juvenile, from Huron,
Middlesex, Perth and parts of Lamh-'
nn anti Oxford counties gathered
early and remained late for celebra-' se
tion. No less than forty lodges took
their place in the monster parade;
and it was estimate dthat between
5 and 6 thousand peoeople visited
the fair grounds during the after-
noon.

Married 70 Years
Smith County, Kansas, oidcst mar-
ried couple, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Franzmathes of Kansas City celebr-
ated the 70th anniversary of their
wedding day at their home on Fri-.
day, June 29th. All members of the
immediate family being present. Hun-
dreds of letters of congratulations
have poured into the Mathes hone
and they have been honored over
many of the radio stations in their
recent programs. Mr. and Mrs.
Franzmathes were married at Zurich
Ont., Canada, on June 29th, 1864,
and in 1872 went to Kansas as pion-
eers to make their home a homestead
in the Huminer community. -They
have claimed Smith County as their:
horse since that time with the ex-
ception of 10 years spent in Kan-
sas City, Mo. It was only about 6
months ago that Mrs. 'Franzmathes
underwent a major operation, she has
been recovering satisfactorily from
the surgery and although she is still
confined to a bed at her home re-
tains the cheerful disposition that has
long been ,one of her sterling attri-
butes. Mn Franzmathes enjoys un-
usually health for mart his age,he
is 89 and her age is 86 years. She is
a sister to Mr. John Hey, Sr., of
Zurich, and is well known by some of
the older residents here. The Franz-
mathes have long been continual
readers of the Zurich Herald and
we join in their many Zurich friends
