STANLEY TOWNSHIP
The Young People's Society of
Blake and Goshen held their closing
meeting on Friday evening, .Tune 15,
This took the form of a :social on the
lawn of Mr. Robt. McBride, at which
a large unmbee of young people
gathered to enjoy a good timrle. The
evening was spent in playing games,
followed by a short program, Com-
mencing the program all the young
people joined in community singing
led by the President, George Poulter.
We were also favoured with re.din,+s
by Miss Beatrice -Manson an: ;rev.
Wm. Robinson our former. president,
'also a solo by George Poulter. Af-

The Lord's Supper will be admin-
istered at the close of the morning
service in the Kippen church on Sun-
day June 24th. The Hillsgreen Con-
gregation are asked to be present
for this service.
The services at Hillsgreen church
will be withdrawn on Sunday, June
24th.

Sorry to report that Mrs. Joseph
Ducharme is quite ill.
Mrs. Frank Corriveau, who has
been at St, Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don for eye treatment for a week or
more,. is now home. for a few days,
but expects to return shortly to re-
surae her treatments.
Miss Hazel Ducharme who was in
Detroit for some time, has been cal -
ed home to her mother who is ser-
iously ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Masse of De-
troit spent Sunday with the latter's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Corri-
veau.
Mr. and Mrs. Denis Ducharme and
babe were visitors with the formers'
'parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Ducharme
in our village.
Mr. and Mrs. Trefiley Laporte, Mr
and Mrs. Denis Laporte and family
of Detroit, are spending a few holi-
days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs
Chas. Laporte.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Sopha are
gone to Detroit, to attend the wed-
ding of his brother, Udel Sopha, to
take place Saturday.
Mr. Athanas Denomme, also Mr.
and Mrs. Leon Denomme are visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Philip Denomme.-
Mr. Peter Mousseau of Windsor,
also Mr. Jos Mousseau of Detroit,
are guests with their sister and bro-

Saturday, Juno 9th, John A. Wren,
aged 69 years. ile was born in Hib-
sert township, a son of the late Wm,
Wren and spent his early life there.
When a young man he went to Dak-

John Parke, 3rd concession, of Hay,

tives from Canada and the United
States met. Relatives were present
from Detroit, lint, Marlette, Apple-
gate, Galwin and. Pigeon, Mich., and
Stratford, Shakespeare Blyth, Brus-
sels, Williamsford, Mitchell, Monk -
ton, Hyde Park and London. After

A very pretty wedding was solem-
nized at the Pas�snoage Seaforth, on
May 29th by Rev. W. P. Lane, when

relating to road oil or calcium chlor-
ide and cost of .same to be adoe to
the property benefited be recinded.

Corsi y Council Picnic
Huron County Council will hold
its annual picnic this year at Harbor
Park, Goderich; on Saturday, June
23rd.
Three New Officers
In addition to Provincial Consta-
ble P. E. McCoy and Traffic Officer
Lever and Callander, who report to
Magistrate Reid's court, Goderich,
three new men have been appointed
Provincial Constable Leslie Tragenza
of Parry Sound, is here to work with
Constable McCoy, and Traffic Ofilc-
eis Floyd Height and Jack Rupp
have been taken on to assise Officer
Lever and Callender in the patrol of
the highways of Goderich.
Thrown From Wagon
Henry Dearing, of the 5th Conces-
sion of Stephen; had the misfortune
to be thrown from a wagon on alien -
day last and received injuries tohis
back that have confined him to the
house. Mr. Dearing was driving a
team when the bridle on one of the
horses broke and the bit drolzped'
from its mouth. The horse riade a
wild. dash for liberty.
• Struck by Lightning
During the thunder storm early
last Sunday morning just before
daybreak lightning struck a chimn-
ey on the residence of Sam'! Bradt
in Exeter North and knocked oft'
some of the bricks. Some of the
shingles were knocked ori the roof
and a few of the rafters broken•. El-

rooms were filled with soot from the

•Geo. Belcher of Goderich had a
narrow escape from death when , he
fell off the roof of an outbuilding
at his home and landed on a pile of
stones 12 feet below. The accident
occurred in the evening. He fell head
first and raising his arms to protect
his head he broke one arm' and spr-
ainerl the other wrist. He was tram
ediately rushed to the hospital where

case as he has since regained the
use- of the members. In addition to
