Mr. Lloyd Hey of Crediton 'was
in town on Monday.
Mr. and IVIrs. C. L. Smnith. and Mae
motored to London on Saturday,
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scotein ne'r of
Bayfield were Sunday visitors with
Mr, and Mrs. J. Albrecht.
Mr. and Mrs. ;Carnes McAdams of
London, visited a couple of. days last
week with his son Mr. T. McAdahs
A goodly number of citizens at-
tended the nomination at Hensall
on Tuesday afternoon.
Mr. Jacob Merner of Detroit was
a week -end visitor with his brother
Mr. J. W. Merner of town.
Some real good hauls of perch,
fishing were matte last week down at
the lake, by local nimrods, they take,;.
a boat and go out a short distance
to angle these garny little fellows;
Children's Day in the Evangelioai,
church was a great success on Sun-
day. In the evening a splendid pro-
gram of choruses, recitations, etc.,
rendered. The large audience was
delighted.
We notice a small mistake in the
obituary of the late Mr. 'Henry Rei -
cher, of last week, where it sated:
that Mrs. John Pfaff was a daughter
of the departed, and it should have
read a sister.
The Mice Trustees are making
some very essential repairs to the
sidewalks around town by putting nt
some new crossings in place of the
old ones which have fallen down and
mired in the mud.
Mr. Wm, Lamont, Agent, and the
various Directors of the.Hay Mutual,
Fire Insurance Co. met at Grand
Bend, for the June meeting was
held and the usual business trans
acted.

The Zurich board of school Trus-
tees have re-engaged the teaching
staff of the Zurich public school,
but no definite decision has been
made for the Continuation school,
as we understand, the present teach-
er, Mr. Cole, is thinking of taking
up more University studiee, and if
so it wi!1 leave a vacancy. Several'
applications are however in. for this
room.
We are indeed happy to report.
this v•eek that the exceptional dry

Saturday it was threatening rain,
but only a few drops came, but on
Sunday morning early a nice show-
er visited t},ese parts. Then on Tue;
day morning another nice shower,
and a little more on Tuesday even-
ing, and while the ground is not as
yet soaked, yet it has greasy im-
proved the growth. The hot weath-
er has also left and it is nice and
cool now.
Last Saturday:.aftern•oon while re
turning from Hensali your puelishe
had the opportunity of seeing two
beautiful fawn deer in the little
swamp east of the Parr Line. They
apparently were out at the edge of
the clearing grazing when we hap-
pened along, and upon seeing tie
car coming they were not in the lees
excited in getting under cover be-
hind the willows. Not very far away
a number of people were working in
an onion patch, and it was indeed a
beautiful sight to see these animals
in their natural elements, and not in
captivity.

On Sunday Mrs. Roy Weber of
Iiensal:l, while being taken to Tor-
onto to consult a specialist for sone;
brain ailments, on the way down she
passed this life, leaving behind her,
sorrowing husband and two small
Children, The funeral is being held

the Bronson, Stanley with Melinda
and Edwin were recent visitors at
Markham,
Our local baseball boys have been
fortunate the past week in winning
two games, Last Thursday they
motored to Mitchell and beat the
boys there 1-7, and on Monday
evening on the local diamond in
Zurich they won from the Staffs
boys score 1-6, On Monday even-
ing they will be visited by the Clin
ton team, and the public are invited
to come out and cheer for the boys,.
They need your support.
Former Resident Passes
The death occurred on Sunday last
at his residence, Seaforth, of Well
ington G. Fee, a very highly esteem
ed resident. He was the second so;

of the late Walter Fee, was born in
Hay Township, a mile and a half
north of Zurich 65. years ago, He was'
married in 1906 Ro Sarah Ida Elliott
and settled on the old homestead in
Hay, in 1919 he disposed of his
fine farm and went to Seaforth wh-
ere he later entered into partner-
ship with the late J. J. Merner,
in the flax business. He afterwards
held the position of Chief of Police
in Seaforth for a narthex of years
until he was laid aside by ill health.
Last September he underwent an
operation in Toronto hospital, but
he never seemed to recover his sty-
sngth. Surviving are his widow and
one daughter Miss Eva, of the Sud-
bury school staff. Also one brother,
and one sister, Albert Fee of l✓tonia
Sask., and Miss Allie Fee of Winni-
,eg, Man, Interment was made in
the Bavfiald cerneterv. His pastor,
Rev. Mr, Lane, officiating,
