In Police Court Because Mrs. J. MacKendriek, De- troit, is in hospital recovering' from injuries suffered in an automobile accident, the double charge, that. of reckless driving and drunk -driving, against her son, Walter, was further adjourned for -one week in police court Goderich. Mrs. MacKc'ndrick was injured two weeks ago when a car driven by her son overturned on Saltford Hill, just north of Goderich So meliquor was alleged to be found in the car. Hugh McCabe came in to antici- pate trouble and LIoyd Wright, a tlowick : o••^n-;inn young man, was found guiHlty of taking some wood which did not belong to him. He must pay the court costs of $16.75 or the twelve months suspended sen- tence which he was given will be turned into two months in jail. He John Weiss was charged with the theft of some plumbers' articles by his brother. John admitted taking then and was given twelve months' suspended sentence. Irvine Hilde- brandt, in whose pessession the arti- cles were found, proved that he did not know that they were stolen goods. STEPHEN COUNCIL The Council of the Township of Stephen convened in the Town Hall, Crediton, on Saturday, the 26th day of May 1934 at 1 p.m. All members were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and ad- opted. The following ,:ornmunieati- ons were read: Letter from the Ex- eter Times -Advocate offering to print " the 1934 Voters' List for $100 which incl,,clos tax,. Letter from the Clerk of McGillivray stating that the Col - will Drain has been completed and asking that the Township of Stephen remit the amount charged to them to the Treasurer of their Municipal- ity less allowance made for Clerk's fees and by-laws. Letter from the Deputy Minister of Hospitals giving list of indigent insane patients whose maintenance are charged against the Railway tox. Motion, that the print- ing of the 1934 Voters' Lists be aw- arded The Exeter Times -Advocate at the price stated in their letter. It was decided to ask for tenders for hauling gravel on ,the different blocks on the South Boundary and the l,xeter Side Road, 3rd side road and the Statham and Keys side roads For more particulars see th.e notices posted throughout the Township.
