Dear Sir—I appeal to the young people among my constituents to ut- terly forsake the policies of the two old time parties. Most of their legisla- tion is obsolete and worn out anyway, some of their policies have gone a long way to bring about the hard times we are in at the present time. The depression and stupid, non-ag- gressive legislation of both the old line parties in those past post-war days that we have just gone through is altogether and solely responsible for the Canadian depression. We should not have had any had we hacl competent. legislators. The only thing Young Canada can do now is to .see it properly that they don't legislate for therm any longer. Put in one dozen independent members into the House and Pll guarantee the rising generation will be well provid- ed for in the matter of goad progres- sive, Democratic legislation. Two dozen would be butter. Things back home in the counties will be looked after and your beat interests assur- ed. Further, allow me `to state to middle class voters in my riding that you will find in ire a eceadt ist and consistent advocate in the Iegislative halls of this country of the best in- terests of things as they ought to be at this end of business. I could fix unemployment and cut off using ptib'lic monies for relief with one stroke of my pen. This eystem is the only .true Democratic way of legisla- tion. In these days small industries in sena] comitry centres is at a `iarui.till. This ought not to be. Money is sent out of the counties too much. It must return again. I'll put you people on the map. Let me at it.. Try Inc once. Let tis go! My opponent, the Government can- didate, the auctioneer, the in'sur'ance man he writes insurance to send monies out of the country. I farm to help -retain money back home where it belongs. ,My friend and opposition to my lost is a worthy follow but I Mr. W. W. Cooper of leippen, the Independent and third candidate for the coming Provincial election, was in town on Saturday, looking up prospects for votes. Rev. Dr. W: E, Pescott, Toronto, representing the Ontario Temper- ance Federation, will be the guest preacher in the Evangelical church in Zurich next Sunday 27th at 7.80 p.in. He comes highly recommended as an able speaker. Professor Herbert Kalbfleisch, of the sten University, London, was • a • ek=end visitor; with - his parents Mr, and Mrs. Louis Kalbfteisch, of the 16th concession, Hay. We un- derstand that Prof. Kalbfleisch is a- bout to leave on a few month's trip to Europe to the old countries. He has received enviable recognition in his work at the Western University. A few of our citizens are heipin.g to eliminate the depression by putt- ing some money in circulation by purchasing some new cars, among these we notice.: IVIr. Win. Lamont a new Master Chevrolett coach; Dr. A. J. lMlacKinnon a new Dodge coach and Mr.. C. H. Joy and A. F. Hess each •a new Terraplane sedan. All these new cars at present have knee action or something like this, But this is nothing new, we well remem- ber back in the nineties when the bicycles were so prominent, there was also lots of knee action riding one of these. BASEBALL SEASON TO OPEN Orr Monday evening IVIay 23th the baseball season ttrill :opg:n in Zurich when their old rivals, the Goderich nine'_,will be down toe play the locals the first game of the season in the Zurich grounds. The diamond has been floated and put into shape, and much work has • been done to snake this first genie interesting, . The band will be present and the small ad- mission fee charged 'wi'll be only enough to defray the expenses. Let us revive the old ball enthusiasm by coming out and- cheering for the boys Here is news that our local fire brigades have been looking ror for. some time, when the Zurich and Dashwood fire brigades have receiv- ed a donation of $50.00 to be div- ided between the two brigades. $25. was donated by the Hay Township Farmers' Mutual ?ire Insurance Co. and $25.00 by Mr. and Mrs. Zirk of the Bronson line, Hay.
