to Seaforth Hospital where- she was
operated on for appendicitis.

Fingers are Severed'
A very painful accident occurred
when G. L. Litt, Goderich, had part
of three fingers on the left hand tak-
en off. While pressing hay in Logan
Township, had -hold of a rope and in
some unknown way had his hand
drawn into a pulle, taking the end
of three fingers on the left hand off
at the first knuckles.

C'apt`'�Murdoch Passes
Last Monday the death occurred
at his home in Goderich of Capt.
'Francis . G. Murdoch, former!yy of
Clinton, in his 83rd year: He had
been in failing health for a few ye-
ars. Was born in Scotland, being a
son of the Rev. J. Murdoch of Scot-
land. Was educated' at a .grammar
School and Marshall College, Aber-
deen, and choose the sea as his car-
eer. For many years he was a sea
captain, visiting during the course of
his career almost every port in the
world. He retired from active work
about 30 years ago but during the
war went back and spent the war
years at Ms old trade as a sea cap-
tain.

Clinton lost one of its most promi-
nent and most highly -esteemed citi-
zens when death claimed Silas Jer-
ome Andrews, police magistrate
since 1906, in his 82nd year. He had
