Mr. 3, Hey, Jr. 'made a business
trip to Crediton on Monday.
Mrr. and Mrs. Henry Steinbach
motored to London on Wednesday.

The large county snow plow made
its appearance in town on Friday
and cleared the big banks' away from
here to Hensall, coming in from that
place.
On his way home from Chesley,
last week, Rev. E. Burn stepped` ;off
in Stratford and preacried'three
nights for Rev. J. P. Hauch in
special meetings `
Mrs. Orville Witmoreof town met
with a very painful accident on Ste, -
urday while descending the cella:
steps, in some way lost her balance
and footing with the result that
she fell fracturing a bone in her
arm.
The marriage took place near
Waterloo, on February 27th, at the
home of the Bride's sister, Mrs. An-
anias Martin's of Joseph Martin, son
of .the late Noah and Mrs. Martin,
to Miss Solina, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Steckle of Stanley Town
ship. The young couple will move
on their farm recently 'purchased
from Mr. W. 3. Tough of Stanley.
CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY
.. Mr. and Mrs. Urban Pfile. of the
14th concession were taken by a
great surprize recently when about
twenty-five of their neighbors and re.
latives gathered at their home to
extend to them good Swishes on their
tenth wedding day anniversary. They
were showered with many usefu,
gifts. Mr. and Mrs Pfile taken by
so great a surprise expressed in a
few words their many thanks to the
friends for their thoughtfulness and
kindness they had shown to them in
`tris way. A buffet lunch was then
served by the neighbors, after which
Mr. Simon Greb of Exeter expresses
a vote of thanks to the neighbors in
helping to make this gathering a
success. Good wishes and many hap-
py returns of the day was extended
to the couple and all returned 't'•
their homes.

met in the Council Chamber on Mon-
day evening, with a beige attend
The meeting was opened by the Pres

by a favorite pie recipe. Gordo -
Hess then favored the meeting wit'•

Market) this was much enjoyed. Dr.
A. J. MacKinnon then gave an ad-
dress taking as his subject "Edi:
cation" explaining what education
is a systematic training and helps tr..
build characters. Education begins _
in childhood which gets its first edit•
2ation at home from the parents
and later in school and church. The
address by the Doctor was greatly
appreciated and a hearty vote of
thanks was expressed` by the presi
dent from the Institute. A vocal
duet was then given by Ruth John-
ston and Alpha Meyers, which wa•
followed by a reading by Ilyntrtcr
Manson. (How Jimmy tended the
baby). A contest, (A farmer's love
letter) was then conducted by Mrs.
MacKinnon after which lunch was
served by the committee in charge

Helen Thiel and Mrs. H. Hess in the
absence of Mrs. E. F. Klopp and
Mrs. E. Weido.
OBITUARY
(Intended for last week)
The late Mrs. Joshua Snider ,
There passed away to her eternal
home on February • 18th, Matilde
Troyer beloved wife of the late
Joshia Snider, aged 73 years and•
2 days. .Deceased was born in York
County near Toronto and lived there
until her marriage in 1886 when she
came to Stay.ley Township lnear
Drysdale. To this union nine children.
were born, five of whom reached
maturity. Her husband and one
daughter, Mrs. Ethel Woods pre-'
deceased her in 1918, also one son
Emerson of Stanley township, who
was killed in an accident at his home
in 1928. She Ieaves to mourn the
loss of a kind and tender mother,
one son Gerald, ' near. Drysdale, two
daughters, Mrs. Charles MacGregor,
Grand Bend, Mrs. Clarence Mont -
;•ornery, Parkhili; also twelve grand-
chidren, three brothers and two sis-
ters She was a kind sympathetic
considerate and patient mother and
endeared herself to all who knew
ter. She was an easiest Christian
and told her family she was ready to
meet her Saviour. The funeral
servics was conducted by Rev. H. F.
Wilson, Brantford; Rev 3. P. Mc-
Lellan, Parkhill, at the home of her
;daughter, Mrs. Clarence Montgom-
lery, on Tuesday afternoon. The
!remainss were laid to` rest in Bayfield
'cemetery. - ..

A real sprng' thaw visited this
section over the week -end, when the
weather got real nice and warm and
with a little rain the snow made • its
get -away very :rapidly, till on Tues-
day, a little snow storm made its ap-
pearance and it looks a lithe more
.seasonable now. The -roads were .be-
ginning to get quite soft at places
as the wheels were cutting in about
six inches, but the recent frosts en-
ables one to drive almost anyplace.
