of Dublin, who has made a real
name for himself in previous com-
petitions. He had the only litter
mitered in the Province which grad-
ed 100% selects. The litter having
the most• tonnage was marketed by
Brown' of Dungannon. In
this litter there were 15 pigs Mark-
, eted at 205 days, and weighing 2
f '930 lbs. The second youngest litter
to be marketed in the Province was
raised by Mr. John Armstrong of
Zurich, who secured second place in
this district. In this litter there
• ' were 12 pigs marketed at 166 days
1 and weighed 2,500 lbs.

viting the Progressive:United Farm-
er and Labor groups :in the House
to "sit in" at future caucuses, "in
order that we ruay present a united

DAY OF PRAYER
The Ladies' Aid and W. M. S. of
the Evangelical church observed the
annual Day of Prayer last Sunday
in a. very successful way, and the
offering for missions was larger than
.;a. year ago.
'The short course banquet on Thu-
esclay evening in the town hall, Zur-
'=adh was well attended, as nearly two
i iuutired partook of the fine repast,
.and a very suitable program follow -
.ed the banquet. Then on Friday,

DIED AT PARKHILL
Charles Lindenfield, a well known
'fcardware merchant of Parkhill and
a former resident of Dasshwood and
,Exeter died on Monday last at his
':$retiree. Ile had been in business in
:Parkhill • for 19 years, having moved
%bore from Exeter where for twelve
'ears he worked for J, A. Stewart.
:Before going to Exeter Mr. Linden-
lield worked at Dashwood where as
a boy of 14 he was an apprentice to
.Jolrp Hall. Ile is survived by bis be-
«weaved'wife, one son and three dau-
tees, also two brothers and five

There is some talk in the village
of a covered skating rink in the vil-
lage, to be built by local men. This
would be a splendid thing and would
help to keep the young people at
home. There is splendid material
here for :hockey and curling teams

Dr. Clark of Goderich, is at pres-
ent enjoying the Florida warmth
and , sunshine. The Doctor always
keeps his eyes open, and wehn he
retains 'he will likely have some new
ideas for the Goderich Exhibition of
which society he has for many years
been the secretary.
Three Bach from Bandeau
Three of the seven men of Goder-
ich who went to Rondeau a few we-
eks ago, are back in the county town
They claim they were asked to work
in the
rain while suffering from
colds.
Clinton Boy Warden of Elgin
.Ernest Livermore, Reeve of Ayl-
neer, who has been elected: Warden
of Elgin county, is a son of Mr. and
Mrs: Jas. Livermore of Clinton. He
is the first lawyer ever to hold that
office in Elgin county and is one of
the youngest wardens the county
has had.
Horse Dies Following Fall
A horse belonging to Victor Hey-
wood, of Usborne, slipped on the ice
near the Trivitt Memorial church,
Exeter and in falling broke its leg
and ruptured a blood vessel. Dr.
Steiner wa s gilled but the animal
passed away shortly after his arrival
Calf Weighs 132 Pounds.
When H. Wells of near Palmer-
ston, made his morning tvip to the
barn to do chores, an addition to -the
cattle family was evealed. He found
that one of his Holstein cows had
presented him with a 132 -pound calf
This enormous calf &o.lzld. go on re-
cord so far as weight is concerned.

The vital statisstics :of Exeter for
1.933 are given by Jos Senior,clerk
aas follows: Births 24; marriages,
12; deaths, 20. The latest popu-
lation Iiigurss are 1,5.96, but it is
expected that these figures, which
show a loss of 10 from population
of 1932, will be increased again in
1934, as several families have taken
up residence there lately.

School Closed
As a precautionary measure to
avoidif possible the further spread
of mumps the high and public scho-
ols of Exeter 'were closed, all , last
week and reopened on Monday of
this week. The order for closing
was issued by Dr. Fletcher, Medical
Officer of Health. Two, weeks pre-
viously one of the members of the
high school staff contracted the
mumps and the school at that time
'was disinfected. When further
cases developed the school was or-
dered closed for the week.

Died at Exeter
On Sunday afternoon there pass -
sed away at her lake residence, 4
miles east of Exeter, in Usborne Tp.
Mrs. ,lobt. Robinson on the gve of
her 84th birthday. She had been in
poor health for three weeks, was
:formerly Alice Hunter and is sure-
'ivied by her husband, a sots, Lesll'ie
and a daughter, Miss Ella at home,
Bruce County Warden
The now warden of Bruce county
Dan McDonald, Reeve of Lindsay' -
township, is a natives of Goderich.
Born there .5:9 years ago, he moved
with his parents, when but four ye—
ars of age, to Stokes Bay, where he
has since resided. He is a farmer
and a bachelor and has been Reeve
of his township for 16 years in suc-
cession. He is the first warden of
Bruce to come from that portion of '
the county 'north of Wiarton.

lengthy illness. Until her remov'a''
