After disposing of a number of communications the following re- solutions were passed: That the following be appointed officials •of the Township of Hay for. the 'year 1934: Clerk and Treasurer A. F. Hess; Assessor, W. H. Edigh offer; Auditors, Wm. S. Johnston and George Deiehert; Weed Inspector, Conrad Siemon; Caretaker of Hall J. Albrecht; Member of Board of. Health, C. C. Schilbe; Sanitary In- spector, Western Div., J. Block; Eas- tern Division, B. C. Edwards; School Attendance Officers, Western Div., Fred Ducharme; Eastern Div.- Win. Dougall, and that a By-law be pre- pared for passing at the next Coun- cil meeting confirming the appoint- ments That the salaries to be paid to Township officials for the year 1934 be fixed as follows: Clerk and Tre- asurer, for Tp, $360.0.0 for Tai. Roads $20.00, for Telephone 350.00, and for preparing and mailing tax notices and receiving return of pay- ments $45.00; Assessor $100.00; Caretaker of hall $40.00 ( uditors $6.00 for Township and $2.00 for Telephone; Weed Inspector, 35cents per hour including transportation.; Road. Also. six brothers- survive: Wm. Merner of ,Winnipeg; Jacob Merner 'of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Guenther of Dashwood were Sunday visitors in the village. Met Milton and Menno Oesch and Mrs. E. Gascho motored to London on Monday. Mr: T. L. Wurni of Toronto, was a week -end visitor with relatives and friends in Zurich. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Mousseau and daughters Betty and Joyce enjoyed a motor trip to Woodstock and Tor- onto the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Merner Eilber and family of Detroit, were Week -end visitors with Mrs. Eilber's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Jos. Routledge. They also attended the funeral of the for- mer's mother, Mrs. Eilber at Cred- iton -on Monday. On Saturday, January 20th the Zuridh Branch of the Women's In- stitute are holding a baking sale in the Store of Johnston & Kalbfleisch Ilard`are store. This baking sale is held in the interest of the Zurich Pb!t Library and all members- in- -teiested'. in the Library are asked to co-operate . with the Institute and make this baking sale a success. POLICE TRUSTEES ORGANIZE. The new board of the Zurich Pol- ice Trustees met on Monday and the following signed the Declaration of-Ofi'ice : H. Eickineier, 0. Klopp, R. F.: Stade. , Mr. 0. Klopp was then appointed -as Inspecting Trustee for the year, and Mr. A. F. Hess as Sec-. retary, the road commissioner being Mr. Henry Steinbach. The organiz- ing of a fire brigade was then taken up and the following were recomend- ed as a volunteer fire brigade: W. A. Reith, _M. ' G. Deitz, Lloyd O'Brein, Earl Thiel., Leroy O'Brein, H. Mous- seau, Len Prang, M. Schilbe, E Mous seau. H. Mousseau as motor mech- anic. Eeach member to receive 50c for attending fire drill. Drill to be held monthly: 0.. L. Smith was ap- pointed Supt. - of the water works. A grant of $25.00 was made to the Zurich Library. OBITUARY Mrs.- ' Chas. Eilber, Dies at Crediton Word was received here last Fri- day, of the death of (Sarah Merner) or better known as Mrs. Charles Eilber; at her home, Crediton, on Friday, after only a week's serious illness with heart: failure, although the departed was not in good health for some. time. - Another sad part of it is that Mr. Eilber, her husband is just recovering from a very hard attack of pleurisy.
