Anniversary S,erv:Ces The fifty-second Anniveatay'of the beginning of the Evangelical, church in the village of. Dashwood was celebrated on: Sunday'Nov. 5th This is the first formal Anniversary that has been held by this congreg- ation. Services were first held in Dashwood in 1881 in nit old frame church purchased fxom the Method= Lets. Rev. Henry Dierlamm was the minister at that time. Later in 1895. the present brick edifice was built during the pastorate of Rev; Elias Eby. At the morning service the. pastor, Rev. A. W. Saner gave a ]history of the church and the. child- ren's choir. sang three numbers. At the evening service Rev. J. H. Stain- ton, -of James St. United Church, Ea- • eter, was the speaker. He those prayer as the theme of his sermon. Musical numbers included two " s ;� • ; ections by the choir, a solo by Tars: N. Tiernan, and: a duet by Messrs H. Hoi ifl n an W. ;,. Bender—Zinn A quiet wedding, was solemnized 'at the Church of God, London, en Saturday when Miss Pearl R. Zinn,, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Zinn of New Hamburg became the bride of Leonard Bender, son of Mr. and Mrs• John Bender of Dashwood. Rev H. French Wilson of Brantford offs;', crated. The church was prettily de- corated with pink and white and the altar was banked with ferns and chrysantheums. The bride was gowned in wine chiffon with acces- sories to match and 'carried a-bou- quet of Johanna Hill roses. She en--, tend the church to the strains of the'. In the police co- -art a charge of leaving the scene of 'an accident against Norval Scrimog- eour, truck driver, was dismissed. Alfred Clark testified that on the movnieg of .Qct. 31st, between 2.30 and 3 a.m. near Carlow, when re- turning from a dance at Auburn, he drove hissedan into the rear of a truck driven by Scrimogeour, and which he claimed was Without a tail light. Clark says he was roma into the ditch and his car badly da- maged. Scrimogeour said he knew nothing of an accident, felt no im- pact, and as, there were na sharks of a collision on the truck, his worship dismissed the case. Scrimogeour•, however, was fined for not having a rear light, to which charge he plead= ed guilty. A charge of reck- less driving has been laid against Grainger. Last Sunday night Chris. Bierling, of Dashwood, about a mile west of Dashwood came on some cattle on the road, just coming out of .a gate- way. He ran into one ..of them, bre- aking • its leg, and damaging the radiator and front of his car. The owner of the cattle, Harrison Wie- gand of Dashwood, is to _answer to a charge of allowing cattle on the highway. Last. -Monday evenings Lennis O'Brein who had been at London with a Clin- lane creamery truck, was returning home, by No. 4 highway when about a mile and a half south of Bruce field he overtook a boy riding a bisycle with no light. When the lights of his truck picked up the boy O'Brein swung to the left to avoid him, but the rack of the truck struck the lad and knocked him off the wheel. O'Brein stopped his truck and ,picked; him up and took him to Dr. Collier at Hensel; who found that the boy, Andrew McKenzie of Kippen had two ribs broken. Her maiden name was Mary Jeffrey, was born in Devonshire, Eng, and came to Canada in 1855, takihee $ weeks to cross the ocean in a sailing vessel. She settled near St. Thomas before • the coming of the railroad. She was the • daughter of the late Wm. and Mary Jeffrey of Devonshire Eng., who carne to' Canada in 1853 and' located near St. Thomas.
