The Zurich Dramatic Society who presented the program in the local town hall, Fair Night, put on a sim- ilar program in Londesboro, on Mon- day evening. A large delegation of the local organization of the Luther League attended the big convention of that organization at Milverton on Mon- day. Rev. E. Burn held anurversary services in the Varna United church on Sunday evening, while tlie Varna pastor, Rev. E. A. This week is the beginning of the. fowl supper season, when the Varna United Church. will hold their sup- per on Thursday evening, Oct. 12th. These people always put forth a lot of energy to make it a big success, and the public are invited to attend. The only supper in Zurich this fall that we know the date off is the Evangelical, which is on Thursday. November 2nd. Mr. Gordon Smith, of the Blue Water Highway, just south of St. Joseph, had a very narrow escape of ..,eing seriously injured. the other day while getting in the cows, in trying to head off one, a young cow, it charged upon Gordon, knocking him down and started to maul him, when the dog who was in the company be- gan to bite the cow in the heels which drew the cows attention in another direction, and with Gordon's urging of the dog, the cow soon ran off jumping over high wire fenc- es as though they were nothing.
