Mr. Gordon Smith, of the Blue
Water Highway, just south of St.
Joseph, had a very narrow escape of
..,eing seriously injured. the other day
while getting in the cows, in trying
to head off one, a young cow, it
charged upon Gordon, knocking him
down and started to maul him, when
the dog who was in the company be-
gan to bite the cow in the heels
which drew the cows attention in
another direction, and with Gordon's
urging of the dog, the cow soon
ran off jumping over high wire fenc-
es as though they were nothing. The
animal then made up with some cat-
tle in the bush and has been there
since, and Gordon has completely re-
-covered from his experience.
