spent the week -end at Seaforth.

Western. Ontario, called at the Herald
Office on Saturday, and expressed
his appreciation of the splendid co-
operation of the Council of the Town-
ship of Hay with. Mr. Edward Datars

was very warm in his praise of Mr

The death occurred in Goderich on
Thursday, September 28th, of Albert
Boyce, eldest son of Mrs. Hannah
Boyce, and the late Mr, Janice Boy-
ce. Deceased was born in Stanley
Township 47 years ago, where he
continued to reside till a few years
ago when he and his mother moved
to Goderich. About three weeps a-
go he contracted a fever whiehc de.
veloped into pneumonia and ended '
fatally. He leaves to mourn his loss '
his widowed mother, three brothers
Victor and William of Goderich, and
Frank of Stanley, and one sister,Mrs.
j W. Helmer, The funeral was held
on Sunday to Bayfield cemetery.
Miss Greta 'Becker of Dashwood,
is spending a few days visiting with
her • grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mar-
tin Wins. •
. Mr. Clarence Hoffman of Galt,
who spent holidays here, has return-
ed to that city to his worK. Mrs.
Hoffman and infant baby, are re-
maining over for a while in Zurich.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Hey spent Tu-
esday last at Blyth, where • Mrs. Hey
was judge of Dairy Products, Art,
and Ladies' Work.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Braun and
family of Forest, were week -end vis-' •
itors ,at the home of Mr. Wee. Le- •

The rains during the past week,
'have been indeed welcome, and the
'armers are starting their fall plow-
ing which was impossible o_ n heavy
land, as it was too hard. The fall
wheat is also making `;pod headway
in growth, and will soon have a nice
top on for the winter,
There will be a Thanksgiving ser-
vice in the Evangelical Church in
Zurich, on Sunday morning. In the
evening Rev. E. A. Poulter of Varna '
will preach while Rev. Burn will
conduct the service in ....erne..

STEPHEN COUNCIL
The Council convened in the Town
ell, Crediton, on Sept. 9th, at 1
m. All members were present. The
minutes of the previous meeting we -

Motion, that By-law No. 469 be-
ing a by-law to levy the respective
gates in the Township of Stephen for
the year 1933, having been read
three times be passed and signed by
the Reeve and Clerk and sealed.
Motion, that the Collector's Roll
for the year 1932 as returned by the

Collector to the Treasurer of the
Township on the 10th day of Aug-
ust. 1933, be accepted.
Motion that the Bond of the Do-
minion of Canada General Insurance
Company on behalf of the Township
Treasurer be accepted and filed with
the Clerk of the Peace of the Co-
unty of Huron as directed by statut-
es,

on behalf of the Township Treasurer
be cancelled.
