An interesting event took place at
the Presbyterian Manse, Hensall,
when Rev. W. A. Young, united in
marriage. Anna Margaret, youngest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas, Love
of Hillsgeeen, and Wilfred James
Huxtable, oldest son of Mrs. Hux-
table, of Centralia. The young cou-
ple were atttended by the bride's
sister, Agnes Love, and Mr. Lorne
Hicks of Centralia. The bride was
prettily gowned in white, The gro-
onn's gift to the bride was a cheque
to the: bridesmaid a pearl pendant,
and to the groomsman white gold
cuff links. After a dainty luncheon
served at the home of the bride's
parents, the happy couple left for a
short motor trip to Muskoka. and the
Georgian Bay district.

CANADIAN LOAN SHORTLY
It is stated that announcement will
be made in Ottawa shortly of Can-
ada's new conversion loan which it
describes as the "largest single finan-
cial operation Canada has ever at-
tempted. Estimates placed the
amount of the loan at $500,000,000
to .be borrowed at an interest rate
not exceeding 41;a per cent All chart-
ered banks and practically every bank
ing house will be mobolized into the
'most comprehensive security selling
units ever established in this coun-
try. An extensive advertising cam-
paign .... will blanket the nation with
the patriotic appeal "Put the loan
over."
BEAN GROWERS MEET
A meeting of Bean Growers in
the Town Hall, Zurich, was held on
Saturday evening, September 23rd
under the auspices of the Ontario
Bean Growers' Association, The
bean situation was outlined in detail
by the President of the Association,
Mr. W. Ward, Ridgetown, and W.
E. Reid, Secretary of the Association
Chatham. Other speakers were Mr.
Eugene King and D. D. Gagnier,
Paincourt. In the Zurich and Hen-
sail meetings some 300 growers were
present, with a largo number of those
present signing the new contract and
further erorts will be made to can-
vas the district in the near future.
In view of the very unsettled con-
dition of the market, they recommend
that the Growers communicate with
the Secretary of the Association, 'P.
