C. Bays, jr., has caused a writ to be issued in Supreme Co- urt for $6,104.37 against Gordon Young, former county treasurer, who faces trial for the theft of over 000 from the county. An injunction is also asked to prevent Young from disposing of his real estate and chat- tels. The injunction has been ag- reed to. WOLF KILLED PINERY A wolf, the second to be killed in the district in recent months, was struck by an automobile driven by John Murray, Sarnia, in the Pinery on Monday , and killed. The wolf came out on the readin; frOnt, of Murray's. car. Although it 'weighed More than 50 pounds the car was not damaged. Murray was accomp- anied by Mrs. Murray and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Smith of Sarnia. They came on home and left word with Harry Millman, Pinery storekeeper, to go back and get the animal. It was struck about one mile east of the bridbe over the Aux Sauble River • In Police Court No e Drunk in Police Court in • Huron County During Month of August • There were sixty-two cases dispos- ed of in the County Police Court dur- ing August by Magistrate C. A. Reid Of these twenty-one were for offen- ces against the Highway Traffic Act arid twelve under the Liquor Control Act. Total fines collected were $321, of which $189 went to municipalities $13,2 to the Province, $65.45 in mag- i+ate fees which go to the Province $74.12 to constables .and $38 to of - Mi. persons. No less than sixteen charges were laid under the Crim- inal. Code. There was not one 'drunk' during the month of August. Benson, Dominion 2200. 2000 6.25 Poultry Branch, has been a little more active during the past week, and while storage holdings are still somewhat heavy, the market holds fairly firm. Heavy fowl are scarce as -receipt S in this class of poultry are leSs, probably owing to the better outlook far egg prices.. Higher Turnip Prices - Owing to exceptionally dry weath- er, according to J. 11, Purvis, general manager, Blackwater Turnip Grow- ers' Association, the turnip made an indifferent start. The crop Is, oii the average, about 30 days rater than it would be under normal conditions - said,. that, inspection of early syn turnips gives no indication of v4te.rbore,,or. worm injury and, with sixty days of .growing weather still available, 50 per cent of a normal. yield may be expected. He estimat- ed. that prices for turnips will be higher owing to short feed and grain Yields, and lowered vegetable prod- uction, with a probable maximum of 25 -bents a bushel to the grower. - Ontario Bean Crop Prospects throughout. the Ontario bean belt, according to Ont. Market- ing, Board advices, indicate a short crop. Kent and Elgin counties, re- presenting over 80% of the bean ac- reage, were particularly hard hit by dry, weather. Conditions in Huron County, however, have been more favorable. Some crops have benefit- ed by recent rains, but these are throwing the beans into second gro- wth. This condition will render the crop late in. maturing, arid open gre- ater danger from frost. The carry- ing over of beans from the 1932 crop •is less than that of a year ago, and July has been the best month in the bean business since March.
