holidays with her parents in town.

Detroit, were visitors with the form-
er's brother, Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
Merner of town.
Mr. and Mrs. Adam Sippel and
son Wilfred, of Milverton were we-
ek -end visitors with friends and re-
latives here.
Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Schiefle and
two daughters of Detroit, are spend-
ing the week with Mrs. Schieiie's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gillman.

The Council of the Township of
Stephen convened at the Town Hall
Crediton, on. Monday, August 7th,
All members were present. The min-
utes of the previous meeting were
read and approved.
Motion—That by-law No. 467
authorizing the Reeve and Treasur-
er to borrow money to moot current
expenditures until such time as the
taxes are paid, having been read
three times be signed and sealed by
the proper officials.
Motion—That the Reeve sign the
application for the Treasurer's Bond
Tenders were opened for hauling
gravel oil the first four Blocks on
the Exeter Side Road and in each
case was awarded to the lowest ten-
derer, '

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Birk, bridal
couple, returned from their wedding
trip on Tuesday last. They will
move to Guelph in the near future,
where they will reside, and where
Mr. Birk has a prominent position in
the Ontario Agricultural College.
.Little four-year-old Bobby Jen-
son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jen-
nison, of the Blue Water T-Iighway
about two miles south, was severely
kicked by a cow last Friday evening.

Mr. Milton Heyrock of Detroit,
called in town on Wednesday of last
week. Milton is a :former Zurich
boy, wine, has; done very, well in the
big city of Detroit, at present hold-
ing a very responsible position in one
of the big National State Banks of

the Zurich car was going, and not
noticing'the Zurich car with the re-
sult that. the two cars colluied, and
the Zurich car was thio.aoe. in the
ditch, with Mr. Thiel receiving inter-
nal injuries, , of which Ike; is slowly
recovering. Mr. • Meidiuger's ear
was damaged beyond repairs, and he
also received a few slight injuries.
