MAN INJURED An auto accident occurred near Brewster on the Lake Road about ten o'clock Tuesday night, August 8, when Mr. Harry Hoffman, driver of the Dashwood bus, ran into the milk delivery rig of William E. Turnbull, on the Lake Road. Mr. Hoffman was meeting a car driven by M. Coxs- worth, policeman for the city of Lon- don, who has been holidaying at the Bend and dazzled by the lights he did not notice Mr. Turnbull's rig which was without a tail light, but was carrying another light it is said. Mr. Turnbull was thrown from the rig and was picked up from under the front bumper of Mr. Hoffman's bus. He suffered the fracture of 7 ribs; a slight fracture of the skull and other bruises.. The accident took place almost in front of his own home. A case of empty milk bottles was thrown through the windshield of Hoffman's bus striking him on the head raising quite a lump and landed in the back of the bus. Mr. Hoffman is suffering somewhat from the shock. During the many years that Mr. Hoffman has been on the road as driver of Dashwood stage this is his .first serious mishap. He is; one of the most careful drivers. 1 Mr. Turnbull who is nearly 60 its. of age; is progressing very slowly, and -while he is not out of clanger as yet, good hopes are entertained for .n. recovery. 1. Auto Accidents At 10.30 on Saturday night last while walking from the Square Park across the road at Montreal St., God erich, Miss Reta Carbert, 16, of Clin- ton, was struck down and severely injured by a car driven by Palmer Bundy, Detroit, a summer camper 5 miles down the Blue Water Highway. The girl was struck by the bumpers, thrown against the headlight, which was broken, clearing the wheels and striking the pavement. Miss Calbert received head and arm injuries. A serious accident occurred about a mile north of Blyth when Joseph Taman, Wrn. Rath and Milton Bruce were seriously injured, Mr. Rath be- ing the most serious, he was cut with glass requiring a great number of stitches, the three men being thrown through the glass windshield. The accident was caused by a truck tra- velling south striking a cow b eing led by the owner, Geo. Wilson. After striking the cow the truck struck the car. The cow was not badly injur- ed, but Taman's car was badly dam- aged. The traffic policeman from Mitchell arrived on the scene but did not blame any person for the 'acci- dent. Charles Deahr, chauffeur for Mr. Sorenson, Ford Motor Co., executive, and Wm. Curry, garage mechanic of Goderich, are both charged by Traffic Officer Lever, with reckless driving, arising out of an accident at the in- tersection of Bayfield road and Pol- ley's sideroad last Saturday after- noon. Both cars, a large Lincoln sedan and a new Chevrolet, were ex- tensively damaged in the crash. Both are insured. Each driver blames the other. Curry was giving the Chev. a test run after doing some work on it. He was making a right hand turn on to the Bayfield road when the big Lincoln came upon him from the south. Trees on the east side of the road hide an appraehing ear from view. The Lincoln, after ripping one side off the Chev., piled into a tree. The body is badly twisted. The dri- vers escaped miraculously. 1 Zurich frog Stora INSECTICIDES We have a good stock of Drugs and preparations to destroy all kinds of troublesotiie Insects We have Fly Tox and Fly - 0 - Cede; Paris Green; Arsenate of Lead; Helibore; Insect Pow- der; Black Leaf 40 Evergreen; Bordeaux Mixture; Corrosive Sublimate; Saphine Anti -Moth Discs Dr, A.
