Costello of Godeneli, presided at the local Division Court here on Tuesday morning. 'Mr. and M.LS. M. Schlotzhauer and Mrs. E. Bundscho of Milverton, we- re visitors at Rev. and Mrs. E. Burn last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Troyer of Toronto, were visitors with Ma an: Mrs. J. W. Horner and other friends here, Misses Margaret and Jean Glazier of London and Miss Shirley Pearce of Detroit, visited their friends the Misses Gelinas of the Goshen Line. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ducharme and daughter Rita and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ducharrne and family spent Sunday. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Den- nis Corriveau. The various High School echelons who are attending school out of the village, are spending the. week at their homes here, getting ready •for the big drive, their exams. n'xt week Picnics are at present the order of the day, and daily large gatuerings are present at the summer resorts, We understand there will be no pub- lic school picnic for Zurich school this year. The 'weatherman is again this we- ek giving up a sample of "summer" and it is anything but comfortable to work these days, and we wonder what we will get after this,- when we connat help but think of the cold weather of a week ago. • Mr. J. Gascho and son Raman and Verdi, Mrs. Floyd Gascho and Mrs. Gray, all of Michigan were week -end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Gellman. Mrs. J. Geseho, who spent the past few weeks with her parents here, returning to her home in Michigan. A sitting of the Tenth Division Court was held in the Town Hall, on Tuesday morning, orng, when a t,emoer of cases were dealt vrii:h, while the Judge gave his decision on only one case that was argued out, concerning wages. A number of judgment summonses were delt with. Messrs. A. F. Hess, H. G. Hess, A Melick, W. Alexander, of town and Harry Hoffman of Dashwood, attend- ed the annual Convention of the Western Ontario Telephone A sociat- ion at London, on Tuesday. Theformer Mr. Hess was President for the past year, and was chairman of the Convention. At a meeting of the Zurich Schoe Trustee Board, upon the recomend ation of Inspector Beacom, Jesse E. A number of villagers are com- plaining about the dusty roads in the village , at present. Evidently, the rain man has not visiteu us for a time and settled the dust, and the usual coat of dust prevention tha: has been used in town in fornle3. years, has not been put on this year this is undoubtedly due from an ec- onomy standpoint. However, the weeks will slip by and fall soon com- es along. Those people driving cars through town, please! just slow down and there will not be quarter the dust as with greater speed, and you will get there just the same. SEAFORTH MAN DROPS DEAD Wilson Campbell, a highly esteem- ed resident of ,5eaforth, and widely known man, dropped dead in Dun- lop's garage at that place on Mon- day after returning from a motor trip to Walton with a friend. He was born in McKillop 73 years.ago; and lived on the homestead till four years ago when he came to Seaforth Four sisters survive, Mrs. Robert Nie- Kinley, Stanley; Mrs. John McKinley Clinton; Mrs. Robert Reid Mclaillop, and Miss Letitia Campbell at home. The funeral took place on Wednes- day to the Maitland cemetery with Rev. W. P. Meyer of Rodney, and a former pastor of the local Evan- gelical church here, called on friends around the village last week while attending the attention. The exceeding warm weather that swept the Western. Provinces the past week is now in our midst, and say is she warm? Last week we were obliged to fire up the furnaces, and this week we feel like moving down cellar to keep cool. A good show- er of rain would help in many ways. Mr. Wm. Reith is making some improvements to his business block. A door was put in the north-west corner and the foundation was im-1 proved, and some bricks reset. A !number of improvements are also taking place in the north "side. Mr. Herb. Mousseau made a bus- iness trip to Preston last •thursday. Mr. Mousseau has recently purchased a large iron lathe which he will use in connection with his garage, and some other equipment such as power hack saw, etc. Last Wednesday evening a team of horseshoe tossers from Clinton were down and played the boys a friendly game. However the visitors were not as good as the locals, as the final score showed 135 points for the locals. During the latter part of the game, the manager, T. Meyers used a number of the junior players to good advantage. A fine time was enjoyed by all. County Veterans' Picnic Delegates from the various bran- ches of the Canadian Legion of Hur- on County held an enthusiastis me- aning in the Legion rooms at Clinton nn Wednesday, June 7th. It was an - unanimously decided to hold the An - mal Huron County Veterans' Pic- nic again this year. The picnic will be held at Bayfield on Wednesday, July 26th, and preparations are now under way to make this year's outing the finest ever held in the county. The Veterans of Bayfield are build- ing a Memorial Cairn to their sold- iers who paid the supreme sacrifice in the Great War, and the impressive ceremony of unveiling this memorial will take place the day of the picnic Failed in Court Mrs. Anna Taylor Ashdown, wife, of Rev. Dr. Charles Roland Ashdown', of Blyth, failed in her suit brought against the Village of Blyth and the Blyth . Municipal Telephone System in the only case to go to trial at June sessions, which opened, and closed before Judge.Costello last Tuesday. In her evidence, Mrs. Ashdown, a: middle-aged lady, related that while walking from the sidewalk across the boulevard to an automobile at. the curb her left foot broke through the sod into a hole, allegedly once., the location of a telephone"pole, and that she suffered two broken bones hi her. heel, resulting in permanent injury. This was on July 21st, 1032, and Mrs. Ashdown, the former.Anna Tay- lor, was then spinster, but was eng- aged to marry Dr. Ashdown on Aug- ust 12th •of the same year, .lust three weeks after the accident.
