R. R. Conner.

Rev. R. R. • Conner delivered a
very fine sermon on Sunday last.We
are indeed very sorry at Hillsgreen
church to lose Rev. and Mrs. Conner
as they have been well liked by ev-
eryohe and 'Communion will be held
in the IC.ippen church on Sunday
morning at 11. a.m. The service in
Hillsgreen church in the afternoon
will be withdrawn.

During the recent big wind storm
the smoke stack on Geiger and Son's
flax mill was blown down, and quite
a number of trees, being strewed
with limbs from one •end to the• oth-
er, but no buildings were unroofed.
Spencer's lumber yard sold some 700
bundles of shingles as a resurt. of the
storm.
A. Filshie has returned home aft-
er a pleasant visit with friends in
Toronto.
The bail game played on the local
diamond resulted in a score of 5-1
for Stratford. The game was well at

Joseph Hagan left here for a
trip to Vancouver, B.C.; and expect
to be away about a month and will,

will be greatly missed by his friends

The Chautauqua was quite largely
attended and while it meant the tak-
ingof quite a large sum of money
from the village and district, it at
the same time brings, splendid tale
to the place which could not be ob-•
tained without considerable expeese
in the way of travelling to large cit-
ies or centres and seeing some of
the bigger exhibits, -the wonderful
showing of deep sea diving, the rep-
tiles that the divers must contend
with the showing of deep sea fish,
.and the splendici music were all very
outstanding'.

Kincardine is having trouble with
its water supply. A new intake pipe
was installed last year at d cost of
$20,000, but tine water has been de-
clared unfit for consumption unless
boiled. A chlorination plant prob-
ably will be required.
Oscar Ainent, of the 1st line of
Morris caught a fish of unusual size
in the Maitland River near his home

Grand 'Bend for the summer. Mr.
Moller(' has the tourist camp ready

All teachers at the Seaforth Col-
legiate Institute have accepted con-
tracts at reduced salaries as offered
by the Board and have been re-eng-
aged for the coming year. The mat-
ter came up at the meeting at the
board's meeting the other evening,
Huron county Councillors conelud-
ed the' June meeting on Friday last
after a late session. Included in the
business was the fixing of the county
rate at 6 mills made up as follows:
3.8 mills for general account; 1 mill
for Provincial Highway and 1.2 for
county roads: This is only two points
less than last year which was 6.2.
The aeroplanes which were to have
been• at Seaforth, Saturday Last for
bargain flights, were unfortunately
slightly injured in the cyclone of

his mail delivered right to his door,
Not to be outdone by his city cousins,
he has trained his collie dog to meet
the rural courier each day at the
road, and after planking both front
feet on the running board of the
car, he opens wide his mouth until
the }nail is placed well back. Then
with jaws tightly closed he trots
proudly back to his master's house.
Exeter lost a highly esteemed re-
sident in the person of Thomas G.
Sanders, who passed away in his
74th year. He was born on the 4th
concession of Stephen Tp. and all
his life was a resident in the •com-
munity. For the past 32 years he
had been. a resident of Exeter. The
deceased was twice married, his fidst
wife being Minnie Triebner and later
he was united in marriage with Mary
Triebner.
While feeding a planer .at the God-
erich Maunfacturing plant the other
day, , Wm. Bell was unfortunate to
have, his right hand caught in the
rollers, with painful results. He was
able to extricate it himself, but not
before it had been crushed, the nails
torn ; off and the skin lacerated. The
injuries are extensive but not • exp-
ected to cause the loss of any fing-
ers.

The other Saturday night several
houses in Seaforth were broken into
and articles including money, jewel-

the burglars. Several other homes we-
re disturbed but the thieves' efforts
to gain an entrance awoke the in-
mates in time to prevent them sec-
uring any vahiables. It is said that
the same kind of work has been go-
ng on in Mitchell -and Exeter.

Chas. Strong of Fairview, Sask.,who
have made themselves a very pleas-
ant home, surrounded by trees and
flowers, in which they seem to take
a vary keen interest. Mr, Strong is
