last week for Vancouver, where they
will visit with friends, and are tak-
ing advantage of the cheap excur-
sion rates offered by the railways.
The rather extreme hot weather on
Saturday and Sunday was brought to
a close on Sunday evening, when a
strong gale sprang up, in fact some
claim the wind was more severe than
last Wednesday. The weather since
Sunday eve has been very cool, in
fact quite cold, but no signs or frost
have made their appearance. A
nice little shower of rain greeted
these parts on Sunday afternoon.
Beginning on Wednesday afternoon
of this week the Religious Education
'Rally .of the • Stratford District •be
gins in the Evangelical Church, Zur-
ich, with Rev. E. Burn as president.
The Wednesday evening sermon will
`be preached by Rev. W. M. Sippell
of Crediton; on Thursday there will
he three sessions. The morning Ses-
'sion Leginning at nine o'clock, the
afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the e.. -
ening at 7.45. Rev. J. P. Rauch of
Stratford 'will speak on "Sons of
-God" in the last session, on 'Meted -
Mr. George Hess, of Hensel', cal-
led in town on Friday.

had theis buildings destroyed by the
heavy storm of a week ago.

and Mrs. Jos. Routledge- of town, and
also visiting with Mre. Routledge's
parents at Exeter.
June is the month of growth, and
we certainly notice things coming a-
long nicely regardless of the. changes
in 'weather. Fall wheat is looking ex-
ceptionally go9d, as well as hay and
the spring crops. Some nice patches
of potatoes are also seen, in fact we
:are living "in a land of plenty" and
yet we make our frequent complaints
that things and conditions should be
better, and perhaps some of us have
eaasons to think so.
While crossing the street one day ,
'last week, little Betty Muusseau, !
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. herb Mous- ,
seau of town, was knocked down 13y
an auto and received minor injuries.
It seems Betty was waiting for a
buck to go by, and after it had pas -1
aed; she crossed the street and not
looking the opposite direction, with
the. result that she was hit and re-
ceived these injuries. All children,
• must 'be warned to first look both
evening. The public are cordially ways -before crossing, and yet - how
invited to attend all -of the :4,!ssiont strange it is how they will forget.
FARM AND HOME WEEK AT Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Geormette and
family .of Detroit motored over and
O. A. C., GUELPH spent a
few days with the forrher's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Geor-
mette, at Blue Water Highway, south
of St. Joseph, and other friends. Mr.
Geormette holds a very responsible
position in a large chain stores in
the meat market department. He
was for some time an employee -in
the Schneider Packing House, of
laitchener, aud is intensely interested

As usual the Ontario Agricultural
College Will be at home to the farm
folks, of the .Province for one week
in June. This year it has been ar-
ranged for June- 19th to 23rd in -

THE BIG STORM
As a result of the big storm last
Wednesday we quote only a few of
the damages as follows: On the high-
way east of Centralia twenty Hydro
poles carrying high tension feed
wires were blown across the highway
Alfred Hodgins of the 8rd con. Ste-
phen, was pinned beneath the wreck-
age of his fine bank barn and his
reit leg was fractined above the
knee, also his left shoulder fractured..
The large bank barn of Wm. R.
Elliott, just east of Centralia was a
complete wreck; on the 3rd con. of
Stephen the barn- of Wm. Hamden
was completely blown from the foun-
dation. The new barn of Mrs. Hec-
tor Mitchell in that district was com-
pletely demolished. South of Cen-
tralia thebatn of Geo. alleks was de-
stroyed, several other building were
totally destroyed there. For
and .a quarter north of Crediton, the
big red barn, also the one across the
road the property of Henry Heist,
were both leveled to theground, for-
tunately, each barn being hIsuredfor
wind, for $2,000.; on jno Fabner's
farm the large bank barn was de-
molished; Hy. Schenk had a barn par

Gott Palmer had a fine barn unroofed
Chris Heist had his implement shed

and house unroofed. On the 4th and
5th. con., Stephen Chas. Hoffman had
