14Ir. F. C. Kalbtleisch is making ar-
rangements to 'build a large concrete
smoke stack at his factory this sum-
mer, to replace the steel stack in use
at present. Mr. A. Foster, local con-
tractor will erect the stack. We
know of a splendid stack in town
that has been idle since hydro has ;
come to Zurich, that is at the local'
flour mills, but to move this would
be out of question,' and to tear it
down would mean much damage to i
the thousands of bricks therein. •
A close checkup reveals that of
8,230 chicks sold before .April ist,
there are approximately 8,243 living
and doing well or aver 100%. We
allow 4 extra chicks to the 100 and
this more than, covers all lass to dale,
April 12th.
Govt. approved chicks from bre-
eding stock bloodtested by Capitol
Laboratories,. Ottawa. It takes three
weeks to hatelr out chicks so please
order well in advance if possible. .

Gascho of town. While Mrs. Oesch
has practically recovered from her
recent illness and shock, yet. she ` is
rather weak.

shop, on Saturday afternoon of this
week. The sale is being conducted
by the Ladies' Aid of the Evangelical
church, and a good display will ..be

A very happy event was celebrated
at the home of Mn and Mrs. J. W.
Horner, of town on Sunday, the oc-
casion. being Mrs. Horner's birthday
anniversary, when all their children
and grandchildren, twenty-two in all.
were present, also Mr. and Mrs. S.
Gottschalk, of Seaforth. A. most
beautiful birthday cake ith candles
designating 73, adorned the table.
Needless to say a most beautiful
and enjoyable time was spent by all.
Death of Charles Holbein
One of the oldest residents of Sea -
forth, Mr. Charles Holbein, passed
away on April 28th, after an illness,
of several months' duration, He had
reached the advanced age of 91 yrss.
and was born in Germany, 'coming' to
this country in 186L. ' He was mar-
ried in the French Settlement near
Zurich 68 years ago to Miss Marg-
aret Thon andsettled in Dashwood.
In 1903 they moved to Seaforth Wh-
ere they have since resided. Mr. Hol-
bein was a, devout member of the
Hily Name Society and also of St.
James Catholic Church at Seaforth.
Besides his widow he is survived by
three daughters. The funeral took
place on Monday last with .Rev. T.
P. Hassey officiating..
