He Wanted More When the Huron County old age pension committee was in session, recently, some surprise was occas- ioned when an application for a pen- sion ' was received from an aged gentleman who had been receiving a monthly cheque for $15 for three years. It seems that he had visited a lawyer and gone through the form- ality just as though he had never re- ceived a pension, of which he said nothing to counsel. When asked what it was all about, the old'. fel- low simply said; "I want more money' Naturally he was told that he had taken the wrong method to secure it that two pensions were not paid to one man. There were nineteen appli- cations considered. Twelve were re- commended, five refused, one defer- red and in one other, that of the ag- ed gentleman who wanted more mon- ey, no action was taken. The follow- ing address was read by Mrs. A. Kuntz. Dear Rev. Ness and Family We, the members of the con- gregation have met on the eve of your departure to spend a social ev- ening vening together. During a .periood of six years you have been patient shepherd of the flock, watching, working and praying for us and so we meet to -night to show if possible some of the gratitude we feel to- wards you for your efforts in the past We know that Dashwood has not be- en an easy field of labor. The con- gregation being Iarge, required much work, while at the same time your health was not the best. Neverthe- less you have gone about with pat- ience serving to the best of your ab- ility. In calling on the sick and as a comforter • for those in .trouble and services are notewarothy, for musicall taste and selection we will find none better and there are various' other phases of the ministry in which your success has been most prominent. Therefore, we hope that you will forgive us as a congregation if like a child we were some times disobed-' lent, harsh or unkind. At this, the time of your reparture, our hearts are filled with sympathy as we real- ize what it means for you to leave this congregation, which you have come to look upon as your own and go to a new place where all is str- ange, Therefore, as you depart from us our hearts go with you and we ask you to accept this money not for its value but as a symbol of love and .good will from Dashwood con- gregation. During your ministry here the Ladies Aid has been one of the most helpful and most faithful or- ganizations of the church, By the words of praise which you frequently expressed for this -institution some sort of mutual affection as it were, seems to have grown between you. Therefore, as you depart, the Aid would like you to remember it esp- ecially, -and os these wormy ladies ask you to accept this umbrella as a' token of their esteem and well wish- es. May God's richest blessing rest upon you and your family. May he also restore your health so that in the near future you niay feel sufB. cently strong to continue. the minis- try. May you take with you pleas- ant memories of Dashwood congreg• ation who wishes for your success happiness and health hi your new home, Thursday, ,i.pitil 27fh 144.; are STO F r iture WE ARE NsAY FINISHED TAKING STOCK AND FWD D TI T OUR STOCK OF RDWARE AND FURNITURE IS T is O HEAVY, AND IN ORDER TO REDUCE IT VERY RAPIDLY WE ARE O < .t.
