S E THROAT!
Any little soreness in the throat grows rapidly worse if
neglected. Crush some tablets of Aspirin in some water,
and gargle at once. This gives you instant relief, and
reduces danger from infection. One good gargle and you
can feel safe. If all soreness is not gone promptly, repeat.
There's usually a cold with the sore throat, so take two
tablets to throw off your cold, headache, stiffness or other
cold symptoms. Aspirin relieves neuralgia, neuritis, too.
Use it freely; it does not hurt the heart.

TAXPAYERS AND SOLDIERS.
The streets of Paris lately have
shown other and more serious signs
of change. Law-abiding thorough-
fares which normally are disturbed
by nothing more ominous than the
unending honk of taxi horns air the
equally prolonged argument between
taxi drivers and traffic policemen,
have presented frequently a ciifrerent
taspect during recent weeks.
Hundreds of soldiers—on foot, on

tions in Paris which superficially
-re held as protests against any in-
crease in the already heavy burden
of taxation, but which actually con-
stitute significant indications of a
growing discontent with the dilatory
and unstable character of the.parlia-
mentary regime as it exists today in
France. While it weed be a mistake
to take this agitation too seriously,
since so far it is -costly artificial, at
the same time it probably has not
been forgotten that in France the
source and scene of revolutions has
almost always been the streets of
Paris.
PARK SWANS UP FOR SALE,
Even when winter wraps Paris in
its mantle' of pale, lavender -gray mist,.
the street -corner flower seller relieve
the soft monochrome with their bou-
quets of flowers for sale. The brave-
ly brilliant, dots of color seem sym-
bolic, for Paris itself is a sort of vast
bouquet. No other large city in the
world has so many public gardens and
parks, and possibly no other city loves
them more. Thus, when a milder day
succeeded the mid-January freeze, the
people of Paris flocked in tens of
thousands to these gardens, and above
all to the Bois de Boulogne. Encircl-
ing the western end of the city like
the gieenely background of the bou-
quet, the Bois is the favored haunt of
Parisians, who on pleasant Sundays
fill every one of its 2115 acres almost I
to overflowing, picnicking under its
magnificent trees; promenading along
its broad walks or riding through its
miles of bridle paths. One of the'.
principal attractions is its lakes,
where, in summer, countless rowboats'
dispute the right of way with scorn-
fully graceful swans. After having
had things all 'i;reir own way since
the summer months, these swans had
to yield up their domain recently to
thousands of skaters, for the lakes
froze to a depth of several inches, and
all Paris came to skate or to look on.
The frost did not last, however, and
the swans returned triumphantly to
their uninterrupted floating and feed-
ing. But their triumph may be short-
lived, for the municipal authorities
have just announeed that henceforth

quirers who feared that the most clec-

reassuring reply, however, that the
caretakers of the Bois would not let
the sales attain such proportions as
to deprive the park of any of its
charm.

Labour -Saving's Latest ;
Housewives of Gt. Britain who hate
the task of peeling their own potatoes
may now hsve it done for them. A
firm of potato -growers has recently.
started an experimental service, which
delivers potatoes, ready peeled, in a
glass jar containing cold water, to
homes where labour-saving is wel-
conied.
This is a service•which might be ex-
tended to other vegetables—onions,
peeled and sliced, are an example
which comes to mind at once—and
which enterprising greengrocers might
find profitable, so long as prices were
kept low.
There is one objection, however,
which must not be overlooked. When
vegetables are peeled and kept in
water for some time before cooking,
there may be a loss of valuable min-
eral salts,—London "Answer's,"
