Perjury Charged
A. charge of perjury has been laid
against 'Claike Stanley of Blyth, now
;in jail con two months' entente for
illegal sale of liquor. It is -alleged that
Stanley gave false evidence at his
trial before Magistrate Reid at131yth
on January 13t1r.
Would go Crazy
Dr. Campbell, S. Deleware, writes
as follows to the St` Thomas Times -
Journal: 'It takes a pound of pork
to buy a postage stamp. The farm-
ers are the only people who can work
at a loss and still live. If their kept
books they would go crazy."
-.To Celebrate at Brussels
The South Huron. L. O. L. met in
Exeter last Tuesday for their annual
meeting with a good representation
from the several primary lodges. It
was decided, instead of having a cel-
ebration in South Huron this year on
July 12th, to join with North Huron
in a celebration to be held at Brus-
sels. Encouraging reports were re-
ceived from the several lodges in the
district.

Powers Curtailed
Huron County Old Age Pension
Board can no 1gnger fix the amount
of the pension. This rests alone with
the inspector . and the Provincial com-
mission. The county board can only
recommend whether or not the pen-
sion shall be granted, and even that
is not final. These new regulations
have been in -effect since the first of
the' year, County Clerk Hillman
points out: There has been some
talk of abolishing county boards al-
together
ltogether and this latest curtailment
of power points pn that direetlor)..

Mr. Ward Fritz is spending a few
days this week at Windsor. Ward
is keeping his eyes open for a good r
class of second hand automobiles,
which are scarce at present, but're-
gardless of this handicap, the firm
of C. Fritz & Son have already a-

spring opening of business.
The Carnival
Monday evening at the local rink
in town saw a real outstanding and

this popular place of winter sports,
