It may have other aims, such as to give the mer- chants a chance to tell of their .goods in its columns or to try to -influence public opinion through its editor- ials; but first of all it must give the news. Some of this news is not easily obtained and no editor can cover it all without • assistance. Especially is this true when you have visitors. Many of the ladies think that per- sonals are the most interesting read- ing in the whole paper. Your visitors are usually glad to have their names appear, so send them in. Sometimes people come in and give the impres- sion that they are asking a 'favor When they want us • to insert the names of their friends who have been spending a. few days with them. The whitest; 44 white uses" ation. ` Iw Their Little Freddie Sleepeth The great white flakes of snow fell softly o'er his little grave, as Freddis, aged 6 years and 10 mon- ths, was laid to rest in Mount Pleas- ant Cemetery, London. Thus symbo- lizing anew the white veil of his baptismal innocence. It was on Jan- uary 13th when Freddie only child of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hey, of Cred- iton, fell seriously ill, with spinal ineningiti,s everything that human hands could do was done for him in his great suffering at his home in Crediton. On January 29th he was taken to Victoroia Isolation Hospital. A change came on, God's holy will was being done, and at 2 p.m. Sun- day afternoon February 5th, he went; his way to receive the indisput- able crown of holy innocence. Rev. J. Garbutt, United Church pastor, who conducted the private funeral, from the W. Harrison funeral home on Monday morning, at 10.30, ack- nowledged his unworthyness of speak ing words even fittingly over this angelic child. The words of the Divine lover of children are as of to -Joy. "Suffer little children to come unto me, for their's is the King- dom of Heaven".' It was down in Galilee, Jesus was preaching to the multitude. Purity of heart and soul —forothwith He uplifted a little child of seven years or 'less, presented it as a model, as an arch -type of per- fection, a guarantee to everlasting glory. "Except you become as little children, as this little child, you shall not enter the kingdom of heav- en". This is the pledge of authority of exy worods, when I say there is a new angel in Heaven. Weide is spending the week with friends in Goderich. Mr. Wrn, Beaver of Kitchener is renewing friends, in Zurich Hensall Crediton. and Miss Gertrude, Weber, who has be-' en laid up with the flu has resumed her position in the Gascho mercantile, store. Auto Tires Guaranteed Much of the confusion incidental :o tire adjustment claims will ,be el- .r:iinated by a new guarantee an- ioanced by all standard -line tire manufacturers. Tire companies be- lieve e-liee that no longer will car owners find themselpes in dispute with deal- ers or manufacturers as to tine pal- idity of their claims. ,The new gu- arantee, planned' to remope all con- tentious possibilities, warrants tires used in private passenger car service for 9 months or 12 months, depend- ing on the type of tire, and a guar- antee certificate accompanies each tire. All road hazzards, excepting punctures and running flat, are cop- ered by the new guarantee and pro- pision is made for a satisfactory re- pair or a pro rata adjustment based on the term of the guarantee. It will be seen that under this new war- ranty airowance will be made for such injuries as blow -outs, cuffs, brui- ses, rim cuts, under inflation, wheels out of line, faulty brakes, etc., not previously copered by tire guarantee. This is new and definite advantage to the tire user. Dealers are now sell- ing tires under the new guarantee and motorists are warned that a certific- ate should be obtained with each new tire. BEAN .GROWERS ORGANIZE Acecting thousands of bean grow- ers rowers and dealers in Western Ontario the Canadian Bean Growers' Asso ciation and the Bean dealers' on Mon- day last in London took steps to ap • ply for a charter incorporating both bodies into a new organization to be known as the Ontario Bean Growers' and Dealers, Association, Limited. Col. the Hon. T. L. Kennedy, Minister 61 Agriculture for Ontario was pres- ent at the meeting, and gave his ap- proval to the amalgamation, accord- ing to V. T:~Foley of Foley & Meyers solicitors for the association, who supplied the information. Prominent representatives of the two old or- ganisations attended the meeting, it was said. The President of the new organization will be Geo. T. Micicle of Ridgetown; the Secretary will be W. J. Ferguson of Muirkirk; the Board of Directors will have repres- entatives from Hensall, Exeter, Muir - kirk, Highgate, Ridgetown, Chatham, Essex, Leamington and other towns in the bean -growing belt; all officers and members of the old organizations will retain their connection with the new. The directorate includes among others, W. C. Hubbell of J. B. String- er & Co., Chatham and J. W. Ward of Highgate. The object of the am- algamation is essentially co-operation between the dealers and growers, ac- coroding to Mr. Foley. A clause of the application for charter includes a statement that the organization is formed 'to facilitate the growing, grading and marketing of beans for the mutual advantage of growers and dealers." It will be a no -share cap- ital concern. Temporary headquart- ers will be situated in London. Huron County Council At the recent county council me- eting we notice the following: That Norman Lever be employed to lay information under the Liquor Con- trol Act, provided by county bylaw No. 5, of 1931, along with his tra- ffic duties, this appointment to date from Jan. 31, 1983. The Property committee reported having visited all the offices of the court house open at the time of their visit and that they found them in fair repair, except that the window blinds of the .council chamber should be fixed as requested. These are the blinds on the west side of the court room, which are to be put back on the window, so that the sun will not shine on the judge's face. The Executive Committee recom- mended : a grant of $650 each to Wingham, Clinton, Godorich and Sea - forth hospitals; that no grant be made for flower beds around the court house; that the usual grant of $25 be given to the Hensall Seed Show; that $100 be granted to all agricultural societies holding fall fairs: that $80 be given to each spr- ing fair; $80 each to North Huron and South Huron Plowmen's Assoc- iations; $15 to each school fair; that no grants be given to public libraries this year; that $150 be granted 'to the Salvation Army; $150 to the Nat- ional Institute for the Blind; that 35c an•hr. be paid the corn borer inspect - 4000100 4. tnspect- ,oee1 ..,. 4., •*.i. +. ~ •• *.
