Denies Promising $25 Month
.Seafarth--Go west and see what
Social Credit is doing for Alberta,
Premier W. Aberhart • of that prov-
ince exhorted his hearers on Sunday
in First Presbyterian Church. The
premier came back to his home town
before returning west after a trip to
Ottawa in connection with a refund-
ing plan. He also visited his 98 year
old mother here. In Ian interview he
denied ever promising a $25 a month
dividend to Albertans. He told aud-
iences he saw no reason why a div-
idend shouldn't be paid and that he
thought this divident shouldn't be
less than $25 a month.

iip.li.:
but it seems that Mr. Hess beat me
to it. I bougat my first Reo in 19J6
but never crossed the boarder in it.
in 1908 1 purchaser my ierst .i±'ord
which I drove to Zurich the end of
:lune that year, and I remember one
incident on that trip, my son was
just seven years old, and coning up
the Zurich road he wantee to drive;I
L was going to call on nay old friend 11
John ,Scimell who had moved in.;.r
the village from the 14th. (Bum pro-
phet) on passing Merner's store
there were a crowd of people and I
heard one say, that kid will never
amount to anything, too much mon-
ey. Right there I made up my mind
it is not necessary to pay a boy's de-
struction because you are prosperous
and reaching home I began training
him in finances until 1926 or 12 yrs.
ago I turned all niy affairs over to
him with assets around $200,000 and
lucky forme that he was able to
handle it, and since then he has don -
bled the assets. That does not look
as if he does not amount to anything.
When I was stricken with a stroke
on May 10, 1933 I knew that my aff-
airs were in good hands and in my
helpless condition I would be taken
care off. It is now more than five
years since I am an invalid, but am
still able to go riding which I enjoy
very much. Lasa year's car we drove
32,000 miles, but this year not so
much as I am not strong enough.
Since 1906 I have bought 38 cars
and each one better than the former
I drove over the road from here to
Zurich 16 times, the last time in 1931
there was still 1,000 miles which was
not paved. I was then 63 years old
and drove all the way and made it
in 5 days and a half night through
the hot desert. I had intended to
make many more long trips but Prov-
idence intervened, and must now
content myself with 200 mile trips.
Coming back to autos, Fred Hess
must be mistaken about prise of gas-
oline, for in 190.6 I fought ;t for 6
cents in Detroit, neve:- more than 10
cents till 1910 what I paid in Zurich.
in 1908. I never knew of gas being
65 cents, nor did I ever know that
drug stores sold it, but lardwar:
stores wiuld keep a barrel in their
;back yards, carry it to the street in
5 gallon cans. In the summer of
1907 I drove my Roo to Elkton, Mich
to visit my parents, my :... e . •
'sag passe:i on that year, On thel
'bort trip I had many an encounte,
with farmers and their her.: es whit'
were not near as much scared as the
farmers themselves. Now just a few
words about myself for my Zurich
friends. 1 am still able to hobble
to the garage with the aid or a can'
but cannot drive. I can still read
which i.: another 'oasolatiol. I think
I must have read about 500 books in
the last 5 years. Now wi •hing you
ell the best of everything, I remain.
as ever your Friend.
