Fayette Brown from Chicago was in
port with 260,000 bushels of soya
beans, the first cargo of this nature
do be handled here.It is being shipp-
ed by rail to Three Rivers for ex-
port, the boat is on her last trip of
•▪ the season and willtie up at Duluth.
• i:he Wm. Schupp cleared for the
head of the lakes on the last trip.
Tha Superior is in port and will make
one more trip. Grain; elevators are
full to overflowing with nearly four
million bushels, and further cargoes
will be stored for transhipment. Lake
captains vote 1938 as having the best
continuous fine sailing weather in
their memory.

Miss Blanche Grenier of Detroit,
is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Grenier.
Miss Gertrude Heist of Goderich,
was a week -end visitor with her sis-
ter, Mrs. Harry G. Hess.
Mrs. Boyce of Seaforth was a we-
ek -end visitor at the home of Mr.
William Lamont.
• Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Ross of
Seaforth spent Friday evening at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Smith.
The Evangelical Sunday School will
hold their Christmas Entertainment
on Thursday night, December 22nd.
Mrs. R. F. Stade has returned af-
ter spending two weeks with her sis-
ter, Mrs. C. Kalbfleisch at Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Smith of the
Blue Water Highway, and Mr. a nd
Mrs. Sol. Bechler of the Bronson
line spent a few days last week with
friends at Pigeon, Mich., and other
points.
Mr. Milfred Durst and sister, Miss
Ruth Durst, Miss Masten and Mr.
John Lockhart of the Benmiller dist-
rict were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. T. Truemner, 14th
concession.
The concert, "A Nigit in Haiwii"
held in the Zurich town hall last Fri-
day evening was a big success, 'as
there was a large crowd out. The
Irogram was very good; and the Targe
attendance were well repaid for com-
ing :out and attending.
Misses Greta and Mildred Haberer,
Messrs. Allan Gascho and Archie
MacKinnon of town and Miss, Doreen
O'Dwyer of Stratford, attended the
birthday party of Miss Doris Hamil-
ton at London son Saturday after-
noon.
Mrs. Herbert Bender of town re-
ceived the sad intelligence of the pas-
sing of her sister-in-law, the late Mrs.
John Kipper of near Battrerord, Sask
Mrs. Kipper will be remembered by
many in Zurich as she was a resident
here a few years while the family
lived here. The bereaved have the
sympathy of their• many Zurich fri-
ends.
A Sitting of the Tenth Division
Court was held in the IocaI town hall
here on Monday morning, when only
one case was argued out naively,
Hey vs Bailey. The action was for
commission on a tractor dealthat
the former had put through, but
as. the defendant did not purchase
the tractor, it being his son who
made the purchase, the .mage was
obliged to dismiss the case with
costs. In his decider' the Judge
pointed out that the plaintiff had ev-
i'die ntly picked on t e wrong man.
Womens' Institute
Come to the Wtumen.rs Institute in
the town hall, Zurich on Monday ev-
ening, December 5th. The roll call
is, "Toys for the olphans:" All lad-
ies are cordially invited to be pres-
ent.
OBITUARY
Late, Mrs. Gacb,r,
There passed away at. the Goderich
Hospital on Sunday evening, Mrs.
August ,Guhx, aged 6t1 years, a resi-
dent of that town since 1917 and a
native of Z:xuiech, having been strick-
en"with paralysis for five •days prev-
ious to hea death. Daring her 'married
life with, Mr. G,uhr who was• a cors
tractor, and dredge owner, they lived
in Seaf,'ort'h, Brussels, Exeter as welt
as •Goalenich. In religion the de/pert-
ed 1hsd always remained loyal tis, the
chureli o'f her youth, naive the Luth-
eran: ohurch. Besides her heaband,
one daughter, Miss Pearl, at home,
and one brother, Mr. George: Clausius
of Zurich servive. Alwa a cheer-
ful mother and wife, devoted to the
home, and she will be greatly .missed,
by her family and friends. The fun-
eral is being held this Wednesday'
afternoon from Gcl:.terieh to St. Pet-
er's Lutheran cls-trch, Zurich
