Christopher Ward Passes Christopher Ward died Saturday last in Clinton hospital in his 66th year after a lingering illness. He Was' born in .Stanley Township, near Var- na, in 18.72. .He spent his entire life in the district in -which he was born. For „the past 25 years he was employed on the Snowden . Estate, south of Bayfield. He. was not mar- ried. Mr. Ward is survived by iave brothers and two sisters. They are: Joohn Ward, Brucefield; Emmanuel Clinton; Mrs. Robert Armstrong and Miss Elizabeth Ward, Varna. He was a member of the A]?& AM. The .funeral was held on Tuesday last in St. iPaul's Anglican Church, Clinton, conducted by Rev. W. A. Townsend, Church of the Redeemer, London. Burial was in the Bayfield Cemetery. Shower Was Held Last Thursday afternoon the ladies of the community gathered at the home of Mrs. Alex. McConnell of Varna, to hold a shower in honor of 1 Miss Ida Chuter, bride -elect. The afternoon was spent in games and contests. Barn Burns. Down Fire of an unknown origin comp- letely destroyed. the fine bank barn of Albert Shieray a few miles south. of here last Saturday evening just after the supper hour. Mr. Murray was in London at the time of the fire and, Mr, Reid who is employed had, just returned home and was in the hn ouse when someonenoticed that the straw stack was on fire. There was a strong wind blowing in the direction of the barn. and nothing could, be done to save the contents. Some valuable implements together with all the summer's -yield of crops were totally lost. Fortunately them was no stock in the barn.
