Edw. O'Iiearn, Dublin hotel clerk
was foundguilty of reckless driving
and fined $10 and costs by Magis-
trte J. A. Makins in Goderich court.
His permit suspended for two weeks.
After pleading guilty to breaking and
entering Jas. Oliver and C. Attridge,
middle-aged Toronto men, were each
sentenced to 12 months determinate
.and six months indeterminate in an
Ontario reformatory. The pair broke
into Wigle's drug store Goderich and
stole a quantity of drugs and merch-

They will be obliged to serve the full

Mr. Daniel Smith left on Tuesday
morning for New Hamburg where he
will be for a few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Nickel of Clinton,
were callers at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. C. L. Smith on Monday
Miss Clara Weber of London was
a week -end visitor at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Welber.
Mr. John Flaxbird recently suffer-
ed a mild stroke, but it hacl a bad
effect on Mr. Frax'bird's eyes as he
is practically blind.
A goodly number attended Bay-
field fair last Thursday afternoon.
The exhibits were very good at this
annual event.
Mr. Milton Oesch and Miss L. Mink
of Desboro were visitors in town on
•Saturday. Pleased to report that the
formers injured eye is improving nic-
ely.
Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Brown are
moving their effects to the home of
Mr, and Mrs. Con. Siernon for the
present till they will locate some-
where. .<

Helen Wagner of Shakespeare; Mr.
Hprace Klopp and amily of Strat-
ford; Mr. Leonard Klopp and family

on -Overholt wedding at Guelph on
Saturday.
Mr. Orville Witmer who has recen-
tly purchased the Brown block is
busy puttin in a concrete floor irtthe
part that was used for business. The
former wooden partitions taken out
and the floor lifted. This will be
used as a milk bottling and storage
room, and should make a very suit-
able place for this.
OBITUARY
Late James A. Carnie
There passed away at his home on
Lot 12, Concession 13, Stanley Town-
ship, on. Saturday, October lst, a
welland favorably known resident in
the .person of James Alexander Car-
nie, in his 75th year. Mr. Carnie,
who lived all his life there, has not
been' enjoying the best of health for
a considerable time, and he became
gradually weaker till the end came.
Surviving is his widow, one -daughter
at home, and one daughter married
to Mr. Gladwin Westlake of the same
district. The funeral was held ,'t1
''Jonday front his Home to fayfield-
Cemetery. Mr. Carnie will be greatly
missed by his neighbors as well as in
the Blake. United church where he
was an active member.
Late Mfrs. Turner
There passed away at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Freckleton.

ly respected resident formerly of St-
anley Township in the person of Mrs.
Elizabeth Mudge Turner, beloved
companionof Mr. Robert Turner, in
her 86th year. She leaves to mourn
her loss, her husband, Robert W.
Turner -in his 88th year; four sons
and two daughters: Wm. M. of Wind-
sor; John P. of Stanley Twp; Robt, E
and Fred W. of Goderich; Mrs. Geo.
Campbell, Stanley Twp; Mrs. G.
Freckleton, Port Elgin, from whose
home the funeral was held to Sanc-
tuary. Park, ' Port ;Elgin on Wednes-
1 ay September 28th. There also sur-
vives one sister, Mrs. Jno. Newcombe
Sr., of Goderich, who is in her 81sT
rear, also one brother, John Madge
f Exrbourne, Dovo.nshire, Eng., a nd
a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Madge*,
tNidow of the late Walter Madge, St-
anley Twp., attending the funeral
