Rev. Father 0. Martin is quite
busy these days in making improve-
ments about the church and parson-
age. He is starting a program of
having a considerable ' amount pf
(painting and other repairs done.; ,
Mrs. Franks of London, Balled on
the Mousseau home on aseuesclay.
The farmers are quite busy these
days finishing up their bean harvest
acid threshing the sante. ,seee bean
crop this year is very promising -as
some farmers report 30 bushels to
the acre, and the sample in most cas-
es is very good, •but with the low
price og a dollar a bushel at present,
the remuneration for all this hard
work is very small.

Rally Day will be observed in the
Evangelical church next Sunday
when a special program will be given.
Mr. Peter Mcisaac who was injur-
ed here on Sports Day and has been
in the London Hospital since was able
to be removed to his home on Friday.
Although improving, he will be con-
fined to his bed for a few weeks"
The W.M.S. of the Evangelical
church attended the W.M.S. Rally at
Zurich last Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Nadiger and Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Elliott of Thedford
took a motor trip up through the
northern country last week also vis-
iting the Quints at Callander.
Miss Zeta Nadiger, R.N. who is enr-
plo.yed in a hospital in Ho yell, Mich., �
and who spent her holidays with her
parents, returned to her position on
Saturday.
Murray Wolfe who is attendiaig
Business College in London, spent the
week -end at his home here.

Dr. and Mrs. Bean and children of
London were calling on friends in the
village. Dr. Bean was former well
known and a successful doctor in
Hensall and friends were glad to see
them.
The contractors who were drilling
an artician well at the Mem. Park
have secured an abundant supply of
water at a depth of about 400 feet,
and have moved their equipment a-
way.
Mrs. J. Pope is spending a week

Amid a lovely setting iii St. Geo-
rge's United Church, Toronto for the
wedding of Aimee 0. Yuill, Toronto,
to Dr. Ivan G. Smillie, of Hensall and
formerly of Toronto, Rev, e-. ;Duncan
officiated and J. Linn played the wed-
ding music. The bride was given in
marriage by her sister, Mrs. C. Bu-
chanan and wore a gown of white
satin. Dr. R. Oswald of St. Catharin-
es was groomsman and the ushers
were Dr. H. Steele and Dr. A. Will-
ett. The reception was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. 3. Cairns,
St. Leonard's Drive, Toronto, where
the bride's sister received. Later Dr.
Smillie and bride left for 'the Laur-
entians, They will reside in Hensall.
Dr. Smillie is a graduate of the Uni-
versity of Toronto, and Miss Yuill
spent last year in England on the
teachers' exchange from the Torontot
staff.

obtained a position as secretary in
the offices of the Toronto General
Hospital.
R. G. Soldan of Exeter, who has
been critically ill in London hospital I
for some weeks is reported to be
making steady improvement.
Rev. A. E. Jones, of London, who

The contract for retaining wall at '
Bayfield harbor has been let so the
Chatham Dredging and General Con-
tracting Co., at about 810,764, by
the Dept. of Public Works.
Nearly 900
A school census of Goderich would
reveal that nearly 900 pupils are at-
tending the various schools of the
!town. At Victoria's School 344 are
I enrolled, at Central School 200, at
'the Separate Sch000l 66. at the Coll-
egiate Institute 283 -Making a total
of 893 There are 80 out of town
pupils at the Collegiate.

The will of Daniel G. Dodge, who
was wounded by dynamite and then
drowned in Georgian Bay waters,filed
at Pontiac, Mich., for probation, left
$250,000 to his widow, the fovn'aer
i,aurne McDonald. The bulk of the
estate estimated at $10,000,000, was
Mrs, C. Wilson, widow of John F.
Dodge founder' of an automobile for-
tune. The will was dated July '25,
prior to Dodge's marriage to Miss
McDonald,. daughter of a Manitoulin
Lslaiid tugboat captain.
