Heist—Finkbeiner
Crediton Evangelical Church, de-
corated with profusion of pastelshad-
ed Gladioli in baskets and effectively
formed into a bank palms and ferns,
was the scene of a pretty early. Aut-
umn wedding on Saturday, the 3rd
of September, when Ruby Verna, el-
dest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Finkbeiner was married to Mr, How-
ard Heist, son of Mr. and Mrs, Asa
Heist of Fenwick. Rev. A. ea. 'notch
officiated and Mrs. Ward Fritz of Zur-
ich played. the wedding music. The
bride, given in marriage by Ler rath-
er, was lovely in a gown of white
silk net over white taffeta with white
taffeta •balero, .She wore a fingertip
veil caught with orange blossoms and
carried a shower bouquet •of white
Killarney roses.
The bridesmaid was her on'.7.arste•r
Miss Nora Finkbeiner, who looked
charming in a pink silk net gown
made in bouffant style with lace bod-
ice and quaint pink hat. She carried
Briarcliffe roses. The groom was at-
tended by Mr. Albert Sauer of Fen-
wick and the ushers were 'Mr. Alvin
Finkbeiner and Mr. Eimer Heist.
During the signing of the register,
Mr. Laurence Wein sang `Because"
in splendid voice. The groom's gift to
the bride was a pearl -necklace; to
the bride's -maid a pink neclace; to
the organist, a cameo locker,: eo the
grooms -man, a Masonic pen and to
the Soloist a tie -clip and pin.
A reception was held at the home
of the bride's parents. The bride's
table being arranged with a Targe
wedding cake in the centre, surroun-
ded by flowers, Mrs. Finkbeiner was
assisted by Mrs. Asa 'Heist. The bride
was the recipient of many beautiful
gifts including a silver tea service
from the Stephen Twp. Religious
Education Association of which she
has been secretary for eight years.

Late Mrs. Armstrong
On Monday September 5th, there
passed away at her home in Clinton,
i Mrs. Emily Armstrong, relict of the
fate Robert Armstrong, in her lis'
year. Born on G^shen Line, Stan-
ley, she was a daughter of the late 1

Mr. Armstong passed away 16 years.

in Stanley, One son, Milton died
in 1910 and a son, George Lloyd
died: in 1617. One sister and three
brothers also survive. Mrs Alice Arm-
strong of Pilot Mound, Mau., Ralph
Stephenson of Stanley, Win, H. Ste-
phenson of Marlette, Mich., and ,Dav-,
id J. Stephenson of Bayfield. Mrs.
Armsrong was a consistent member
of Ontario St. United Church, Clan-
ton, a kind and lovind friend and a
deyoted mother, and will be greatly
missed by a large circle of friends
and especially by the family, to whom
is extended the sympathy of the coni
muuity in their bereavement,

Kenmore, New York, visited with
the former's brother, Mr. Art P.
Keys and family.
Mr. Robert MeClinchey is visiting
friends at Marlette, Mich.

Pleased to report that Mrs. Wm.
Carnie of the Branson line is home
again after almost three months in
Clanton hospital following a very ser-
ious.operation and is making steady
Progress toward recovery.
Among the guests entertained re-
cently by Mr. and JVIrs, Geo. Campbell
were Mr. and Mrs. Will Turner of
Windsor and Mr. and Mrs. G. Freck-
leton . of Port Elgin.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Martin of Water-
loo were visitors with the latter"s par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Steckle.
Miss Mary Ann Steckle retained to
Waterloo with them far a short vac-
ation.
HENSALL
Mrs. Fred Manns visited relatives
at Harietttsville a few days.
While John and Jerry Drummond
now of Listowel, formerly of Hensall
were out on a motor cycle they had
the misfurtune to run into a car.
John had a .leg broken and was oth-
erwise badly shaken. Jerry escaped.
Harold Hilliard, of the Bank of
Montreal staff has been transferred
to Kingsville and started his new dut-
ies Sept. 1st They have moved to,
that „place. Both have always taken a
great acid active interest in the wel-
fare of Hensall.
Sadie Fletcher of Moorefield and
Harry Holty of Kitchener, who have
been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
Fink, have returned home.
Mary' Woods of the 2nd can. Tack
ersmith .suffered a severe• stroke at
her home and is seriously ill, her sis-
ter Ella Woods of Brandon, Man.,
was sent for and she has arrived.
Olive Walker is ,. nursing at the
home of Lloyd Hayter: :of Uabarne,
Mr. and Mrs. Hayter were presented
with twin sons.
• Mr. and Mrs. A. Foster and Jean,
also Mrs.James Sangster spent a
few days last week visitit g; relatives
in Toronto.

Anglican Church Rectory, Dorchester
of Mrs. 'In H. Farr, wife of Rev. T.H.
Farr and mother of Rev. Beaverly.

A supreme Court has been issued

New Hydro Rates
Henson. Hydro Com. has received
from the Commission a schedule of
new rates for hydro users—domestic
3.89e kw. for the first. 60 hrs, and
1,19 kw for all additional. 'Commer-
cial, 5c gross per 100 watts of in-
stalled capacity service charge. First
rate 3.3e and :additional lc.. The
rate of :145,50 per h.p. will be charg-
ed the local commission for power
commencing' Jan. 1, 3.988.

Passes At. Crediton
Mrs. Leah Holtzman, ameba -maid,
en name was. Leah Heist, died at her
home, Crediton last Wednesday fall-
owing an illness of two. weeks. She
was born in: Stephen. Twp., and was
married to George:Holtzmann in 1884
to George Holtz/Lanni who predeceas
ed her. She was hr her 78th year.
Surviving are five sons and three da-
ughters, she is also. survived by four
brothers and three sisters. The fun-
eral was held Friday afternoon: at
the residence with a memorial serv-
ice • in the Evangelical church. Rev.
A. E. Pletch •officiated: Burial taking
place in Crediton Cemetery.
Drilling. for Oil
The oil drilling equipment has ar-
rived in McKillop Twp., north-east of
Clinton, and the machinery which is
powered with 100 h.p. engine and
consumes 50 gallons• gasoline a day
are expected to get under way early
this week. The men will work 24
hours' a day in two shifts of twelve

Ian MacLeod, •agricultural repre-
sentative for Huron County for the
past nine years, was officially notified
Friday last of his transfer to North-
umberland Co. The transfer, which
comes in the nature of a promotion.

September. Mr. MacLeod, whose new
headquarters will be in Brighton, will.
be succeeded by .James Shearer, who
has been principal of the Kemptville
Agricultural ''College for the past foul'
years. Prior to that lee was agricul-

He and Mr. MacLeod graduated the
same year from the 0. A. C. at
Guelph. Mr. Shearer takes over his
position Sept. 1 and Mr. MacLeod
will leave Sept. 12. Mr. McLeod
has been very popular throughout the
!county and the splendid work he has
done in this county since he rook ov-
